Xander's POV

Theresa was biting her lip when we pulled up to Maddox's apartment building, it was about an hour away from my house. I wanted to reach out and pull her lip from her teeth, it was too pretty to be bitten on.

Shaking the thoughts from my head and escaping the proximity. I ran around the car to try to open the door for Theresa, but she beat me to it and got out of the car. It appeared we were the first to arrive, even beating Maddox.

He was always late, oh well I might as well go help him maybe that will speed up the process. I lead the way, obviously. When I reached his door I knocked, kind of hard. Maddox didn't hear too well at home, probably due to the ear-bleeding level he listened to his music. I noticed Theresa was cowering behind me, I didn't blame her, I am sure she's scared out of her mind.

The door is yanked open and there stands a bear of a man, his body fills the doorway easily. I still am not sure which was more impressive, his beard or his size. His beard touched his chest, it also covers most of his cheeks, and was the same blondish brown his hair was.

Oddly, enough he kept his head hair short. Thankfully he was dressed and not just in shorts, he was fully dressed like jeans, jacket, shoes. Hopefully, he had a shirt on, but with Maddox, you never know what to expect.

He moved out of the doorway and went back down the hallway and disappeared from view, I followed; only waiting for Theresa to go in front of me, so I could close the door. No way was I letting her out of my sight until after I knew Maddox's reaction to her.

I sat on the couch, while we waited for Maddox to appear; no one was allowed to walk around his place unless he was with you or told you too. It was an unspoken rule we all knew. Theresa followed my lead, sitting down beside me.

The common room -as it was called by Maddox- was very modern. The smoky gray couches sat in a wide v shape with black end tables sitting between them and at the ends. There was a glass coffee table, also a massive glass, and metal entertainment stand with a gamers' paradise. Oh and a TV that was every man's dream. He had a lot of tech lying around, but that was just him.

"So is that chick coming here today?" His voice boomed, from somewhere down the hallway. I stole a glance at 'that chick' she had a look that I couldn't help but laugh at. She looked mad, scared, and a little bit amused.

"Her name is Theresa, and she is sitting next to me." I was yelling to be heard, and then he goes and turns off the music, so now I was pretty much screaming at him. This caused Theresa to laugh, hard and completely at my expense. I just give her a look, a death glare.

I see Maddox has entered the common room, and he is staring at Theresa as she laughs as if she was a baby deer; something small and fragile.

He tenderly walked up to the couches sitting adjacent to ours and sat down. He angled towards her, and reached out his hand- I have never seen him this still or calm since I have known him- by this point, Theresa had already stopped laughing and was staring at him with none of the fear she had earlier. She shook his hand and smiled at him.

"I am Theresa, translator for the dead. It's nice to meet you, Maddox." She spoke softly to him, none of the edges she usually had to her voice was present. He smiled at her, and then he quickly stood up and picked her up in a big hug and yelled "Bear Hug". I was up and over to them in less than a second.

"Put her down now!" "I can't breathe!" "I am so happy to meet you!" Everyone was yelling, it was utter chaos. And that is when Casey, Joe, and Ida walk in the door.

Theresa POV

I am pretty sure I am going to die in the arms of this giant. Why the hell did Xander bring me here? He knew this man was unstable! Why is he even a part of the crew?
