Calm To My Chaos

mom's wrath

Rhea's POV

It has been a week since I felt sick, I have been recovered well but the body pains are healing slow.

Di and jiju were back that evening and I was fine till that time. I came back to office the next day. Sachin was worried about me and has been taking care of my food since then.

He even banned me from eating junk. But I kinda sneaked a bite or two from a pizza. It looked delicious and I couldn't hold back.

What shocked me was mom didn't call be again which I was expecting for sure. I guess she understood that my health was more important. She thanked Vikram for taking care of me. He just smiled in reply.

I was shocked at first but was grateful for what he did. I don't know what my state would have been if I was left alone like I was previously on that day.

I finished my work and stopped by to pick some groceries. I am in a mood to cook something delicious. I was eating only greens the entire week.

Healthy food sucks

I sat on the sofa relaxing for a bit. What should I cook? Chicken? Vegetarian? I guess I will stick with chicken, chicken seared in medium heat added with some hot spices, my mouth waters just with imagination.

My mom's call brings me back from my dreamland adventures with chicken. My mood changes from happy to sour. Is she calling to check up on me? Or is there anything else to talk?

"Hey mom," I lifted the call moving the groceries to the kitchen.

"Rhea, how are you doing?" She asked concerned. She worries for no reason and complains for everything. I don't know how dad deals with her on daily basis.

"I am fine mom, how are you and dad?" I asked smiling.

"We are doing great, I wanted to talk to you, we need to catch up," she encouraged me to talk.

"Nothing interesting on my side mom, I have been eating healthy all week and trying not to be sick again," I laughed.

"You need to take care of yourselves Rhea, not every time that Vikram is going to help you," she scoffed.

I know where this is going

"Mom, I know but I appreciate his help, I barely had strength to move that day when he helped me," I tried to make her show the good thing here.

"He should at least inform someone before coming like that, what will their family think about this? It will be bad for you Rhea," she warned.

I chuckled, " what are you talking mom, he is a good friend and I would have done something if he was in my position."

"You won't go to their house when your Di isn't in there, do you understand? I don't want people to think bad about you."

"I don't understand," what does she want from me and is she implying that there is something going on between us?

"You will be meeting someone soon and not everyone will understand, you may be friends but people don't see it that way," she said in a warning tone.

Like the way you don't

I scoffed automatically which I managed to hide it with a cough.

"Wait, what do you mean by meeting someone?," Is she trying to set me up? God no!

"Well that's another thing I wanted to talk about," she giggled.

"Mom!," I said in a serious tone, this is not time to joke or laugh.

"Do you remember the uncle from Aarushi's wedding who asked you about your job who came all the way from Delhi?" She explained.

"I guess," I am loosing interest in this.

"So, they suggested a match for you and they will be coming to see you on Wednesday, you better take a leave on that day," she instructed.

"Mom.., don't you think it's too early, I am just 22," I whined.

"You definitely don't look like 22," I can hear her laughing in the background which is pissing me off.

"Do you have anything to say?, if no then I gotta go I have some work to do,"  I said controlling my anger.

"Oh yes and they will be meeting you at your sister's house," she said.

'Well I shouldn't go to their house if I was sick but I can when it's your comfort,' I really wanted to say this but I am done talking so I just hummed and cut the call.

All my mood to cook is now vanished, I just ordered a pizza, I will eat devour it till my anger is consumed.I removed my glasses and fell on the bed.

My phone rang, "mam your delivery is here," I hear from the other side. It must be the pizza delivery boy.

"Okay, wait there I am coming," I swiftly moved from the bed and walked down. As I reached the parking lot I don't see any delivery boy.

I looked out of the gate only to find a car which is familiar. I squinted my eyes to see it clearly. It was Vikram's car.

As I neared the car he came out standing by it, "did you really assume I was the delivery boy or were you playing along?"  He asked raising an eyebrow.

"It was you who called," I said as realisation settled in. I rubbed my face with my hands coming to this world.

"Were you expecting someone?" He asked, just then the delivery boy came looking around.

"I think you are looking for me," I called him.

"You are miss Rhea?" He asked.

"Yes, that's me," I said taking the pizza box. He left after giving me that. Vikram was watching my every move. I turned to him.

"I thought all the week you were eating healthy and I felt bad and brought you this," he said taking out two bars of chocolate like I asked, " but now I think you are fine," he sounded a little angry looking at the pizza box in my hands.

I don't know what to do, 'maintain your distance' mom's voice rang in my mind. He quickly turned around, started his car and was out before I can say something.

I really want to scream at someone's face so badly, I pity myself for being in this situation. I don't know whom to satisfy, should I agree to mom and be distant? Or I should try to prevent my friendship from failing?

Okay so the next chapter will be long, get ready but I need to add a small bit to it so editing it might take some time as I am busy with some stuff.

At max it will take two days, but will try to do it sooner😚don't leave me or else I am gonna haunt you😛
