(Y/N) POV
The girl was now sleeping on my chest. The shattered moon lit up the area.
I looked around as I started to get cold. Yea, sure we were cuddled up for a while, but the temperature dropped a lot since the sun fell under the horizon.
I carefully shifting my body so that I could pick up the girl in princess like style. I looked around for any place we could take shelter at.
I started walking around with the light girl in my arms. Finally, an abandoned building caught my eye and I walked straight to it.
It looked stable enough, I didn't see any places that might collapse at face value.
The place had a few shattered windows, but it would be better than being uncovered outside.
I carefully set her down on the floor as she sleeps peacefully. I look around the house to make sure no one was actually living inside.
When I found nothing, I switched to looking for things like blankets. And of course I didn't find anything.
I made my way back to the girl as I notice I don't know her name.
"I'll have to ask tomorrow," I mutter as I sit down next to her and join her in sleeping.
Morning
I woke up from having the sun beaming on my face. I moved out of the beam and looked at the house in the daylight. It was well into the end of its life, all the materials that it was made out of were all faded and splintering.
I felt the girl tuck on my sleeve as I look at her eyes
Who is this guy? He helped me...but why?
"I accidentally kicked you, I'm sorry for that, I saw that you were in no place to take care of yourself so I helped," I say as she looks surprised when I started talking
Can he hear me! Can I talk?
She starts moving her mouth as no sounds came out, she looks at me bewildered
"I can read minds," I explain to her
Wait, what! You can see what I'm thinking?
"Yes, yes I can," I say as she still looks surprised
Ok, ok, say what I'm saying, Oranges, lamppost, dog!
"Oranges, lamppost, dog," I say as she suddenly shoots across the room
That's so weird!....but it's so cool too
I was a little worried when she called me weird...but it looks like it'll be fine
So you can read anyone's mind?
"Yes, as long as I can see their eyes," I say as she suddenly closes her eyes. They stay shut for a few minutes
"No, I can't see what you're saying," I say as she opens them again
Wow! What's your name!
"It's (Y/N), what's yours?" I ask her
It's Neopolitan, Neo for short
"Kinda like the ice cream then yea?" I ask as she shakes her head up and down
"Wow, cool name," I mutter as I remember something
"What were you doing in that dark alleyway?" I ask
I was thrown out
I felt a surge of sadness as I stopped reading her mind for a second
"I ran away from home...what do you say we work together?" I ask as she smiles at nods
Yea, sure!
I smile a bit as she crawls back over to sit beside me.
What should we do next?
"We can't live here forever, we need to get an actual place to sleep and live in...to do that we need money," I say as she nods
So we need jobs
"Yea, basically, I say as I look at her. Her pale skin still had a lot of bruises scattered around her skin.
"I'll get myself a job, you just rest here ok?" I say as she looks at me
But I want to help too
"Girls like yourself shouldn't be walking around alone, you'll get kidnapped and then sold to the highest bidder," I say as I remember how my dad would run things
He doesn't know anything! I can help!
"Listen, just hang around for a while. I'll look for jobs that suit both of our needs," I say as she nods
"I'll be off then, I promise I'll come back," I say as she frowns and nods
Ok...please come back
I leave the house as I start looking for places to work at.
After a full day of exploring the city, I found one place that Neo could work at. An ice-cream shop
It's funny, her name reminds me of Neapolitan, and she is probably gonna work at an ice-cream shop...coincidence...I think not!
But I still don't have one. I'll continue looking tomorrow.
I returned to the house. When I did, I saw Neo in the corner curled up.
As I approached her I saw she had tears rolling down her cheeks
"Neo?" I ask saying her name out loud for the first time. She looks up, and before I could start reading her mind, she rushed to me and hugged me tightly.
"Wow, I'm here, I'm here, what happened?" I ask as she continues to hold me tightly
"I can't see your eyes, I can't read your mind right now," I say as she releases me and puts her eyes in my view. I just noticed, she has two different coloured eyes. And her face is....really close
I thought you left me...I didn't think you were coming back
"I made a promise, I always keep my promises," I say as she smiles as she makes more distance between us. Her face looked very worried,
"I found you a job at an ice-cream place," I tell her as her eyes light up
Really!
"Yea, I didn't find anything for myself though," I tell her as she smiles.
That's fine! Take your time! I can support us for a bit!
I laugh as her mind goes rampant
"I'll find one tomorrow," I say as she nods
"And I'll also show you the ice-cream place," I say as she smiles. It was getting darker out
It's cold out
"Come here," I say as she jumps a bit
Right, he can read my mind
"If you want, we can make a symbol for when you want to talk. You can show it when you want to talk, that way you have a little more privacy and ill know when you want to talk," I tell her
Ooohhh, good idea,
How about this?
She covers her mouth with her hand.
"Yea, that would work," I say as she smiles. Her smile just melts my heart, it looks so innocent.
Goodnight
She crawls beside me and we practically are holding each other as I wrap my coat around us.
Her warm skin was a heavy contrast to last night, she's a lot warmer today.
"Good night," I mutter as I close my eyes
