'The deeds that we commit lives with us'

Sitting inside a rural setting restaurant was an anxious-looking Melissa with her hands wrapped around a soft drink bottle, the bottle was still full with its content as she barely drink it. Her eyes were glued outside the semi-broken glass window that barely separated her from the scorching ray of the sun outside. She specifically requested a table by the window so she could see who came in and out of the premises with ease.

One of the janitors was cleaning and dusting tables and chairs and that got Melissa sneezing as the result of the dust. The janitor apologized and move to another section to continue with his task.

Melissa took out a handkerchief and cover her nose to prevent more dust from getting to her nostril.

Just then a car she recognized drove into the parking space and her anxious eyes spring with interest, she put away her handkerchief, took a huge gulp of the drink in her hands and arrange her gown then waited for her guest to walk right in but the guest did the opposite.

Her guest step out of the car and remained fixated beside it, her eyes did justice in crediting the restaurant frontal. Melissa shut her eyes knowing the interior was going to force an unwanted explanation out of her but it was the only safer place her head could think of at that short notice, just so she could keep the prying eyes off her business.

Their eyes met as her guest walks in with a disgusting face on display then took her time to scan the interior of the restaurant which was far from appealing. Melissa signalled to her table with a wave and her guest turned in the direction with a frown.

"This better worth my time" Her guest voiced out with displeasure settling down in the seat opposite Melissa then gently brushing her finger on the table and lifting it to Melissa so she could see how dusting and unhealthy the place was. It was truly an old fashioned restaurant, the only thing that captured her eyes was the smell of fresh palm wine that ooze out from the cracking old looking counter where two men lean on laughing intensely at whatever discussion they had.

"What's this all about? Did you have to drag me away from civilization all in the name of talking to me?" She asked with knee interest then give the restaurant and the people in it a glance before looking back at Melissa.

"It's not that bad..."

Her guest send her a stern look and she quickly swallows the rest of her words, "I'm sorry, Miss Nora, but I needed to speak with you urgently seeing you're the only one I can go to" Melissa said and took a deep breath.

Nora ignores her instead and look around the restaurant again then back at Melissa. Her face tweaked into a grim. The restaurant wasn't exactly up to her taste with their faded table wares and worn-out chairs. The interior looks as though it has been through world war I and two considering the patched up chairs around.

"Let me guess, you couldn't find someplace more appealing to the eye, other than this...thing?" Nora asked then narrow a glance to a waitress who appear beside her."I will order when I'm ready" She told the waitress who nodded and left immediately. She knew deep down that even on her dying bed she'd never had to eat in such an outdated restaurant. She wondered how their food are been prepared or if their customers usually suffered from food poisoning after eating here.
