Her legs simultaneously stamp viciously on the tiled floor as she jogs down the hallway patting unevenly. What she was doing here was not clear to her but she needed to speak with someone if not she'd come out of her skin. And yes, Nora will nag the breath out of her for disturbing but she didn't care.
She needed answers to the bulging questions in her heart.
On getting to the last door in the hall, it opens up and Nora steps out with a file in her hands oblivious of the visitor leaning on the wall.
Nora sighting her hissed annoyingly at the visitor's presence.
"Not again" She whispered within.
Why can't this lady imbibe the courtesy of informing me before announcing her presence in my working space? She mumble inwardly and glared at her with an unwelcome gesture.
Melissa exhaled and lower her body till her hands were resting on her knees.
This was one hell of an exercise
"Again? You called a few minutes ago...hold on, you were here when you called me?" Nora asked in one breath hating herself for not realizing she'd be fooled yet again.
Melissa shrugged then wink at her and try to balance her breathing before speaking.
"Kind of but that's not the reason why I'm here," Melissa said standing aright. This time her face showcases worries.
"I guess not but as you can see I'm on my routine check so you either speak fast or adjourn this meeting," Nora said with eyes searching for an escape route from Melissa's mindless gist which she wasn't interested in.
"The DNA test, the result even the records have vanished into thin air without a trace"
"That's the reason you're here? I mean who doesn't know about that matter" Nora answered uninterestedly.
Melissa straighten up from her position to stare at Nora, "How did you know? Because I didn't until this morning"
Nora roll her eyes, "Nick called yesterday and told me about it"
"How come someone outside got the news before I did?..."
"Doctor, your attention is needed inward ten" A nurse interrupted them and Nora nodded in relief and face Melissa.
"Well, duty call, you can either wait in the office and we'd see some other time or see yourself out," Nora said heading towards the direction the nurse came from.
"I think I'll wait" Melissa replied pulling the office door open.
Nora stopped and turned to her, "Don't touch anything, I have my lunch on the table and I haven't eaten it"
"Yes ma'am" Melissa shout out behind the door with a mischievous smile on her face.

I pace around the office and settle back in the chair tossing the pile of files here and there while Jackie kept looking at me with an exhausted look. She couldn't stop me from my anguish cause I threatened to throw her out of my office if she scold me again.
My heart seems to have a mind of its own, it has been pounding louder than normal and I'd tried all means to calm my nerves but the more I tried the more anxious I get. Something was off and I can sense it has some connection with the court case.
