Farey saw a part of the culprits, who pushed them. They did nothing yet, they and Assassin waited for the right moment to lure them in trap. They wanted to make sure, no one can easily associate their deaths with them. Nightmare and Error already knew them well enough to know what they were planning, but had no intention of getting in their way and Nightmare / Palette planned to help them in his own way.
