I finish adding all the color to my drawing, smiling in satisfaction as I set it aside to change for dinner. I run a brush through my plain brown hair, and decide to throw it into a long ponytail since it's so warm out tonight. I put on my favorite purple skater dress, and black flats.

Sighing I walk out of the bathroom and check my phone one more time. Still nothing from Jennikah?

Why would she suddenly go dark on me?

Knock Knock

"Hey hun, can we come in?" I look over to see my mom and dad standing in my doorway with worried looks.

I frown, "Sure, of course you can."

Why are they so worried?

I smile at them as they join me on my bed. I was suddenly super nervous. They both looked like they came with bad news.

We're not actually staying in this castle. I bet that's it.

"I know this move may seem a little different than the others..." My mother started, her voice was quiet, almost weak.

"It's just that, this is where I grew up Jess..." My father started as he took my hands in his, "I grew up in this house..."

"Castle, Dad." I corrected. My mom and I giggle. The tension lifting from the air a bit.

"Ok, yes, castle. This was my home, a long time ago. Your mother and I had to leave before you were born." They both looked at me expectantly.

They told me stories about what it was like for them growing up, but never in much detail. They always said we should focus on looking forward versus looking back. After a while, I stopped asking questions.

I just always love our adventures together. Even if it meant not staying in one place for long. I was never fond of that anyway.

"ok..." I stood up, thinking, pacing. "So why are we here then? You said this was our final move." I could nearly hear my heart pick up speed in my chest.

My father looks to my mother again who nods in encouragement, "Because it was time to come back home, to my family. This is really where we belong Jessica."

I furrow my brow, "Excuse me? What do you mean? Is this some sort of commune or something?"

Did my parents just convince me to join a cult?

My mother chuckles and my father snorts. I let out a frustrated sigh, "Come on guys..." I plead, "I'm going to be 18 next month, can you just tell me whatever it is you're not telling me?"

My father takes a deep breath in and out, "I come from a family of werewolves and this is my pack. Our Pack.."

I stood frozen in place.
