The raven lands on top of the overturned milk crate and folds his wings, the sleek black of his feathers merging with the growing shadows.
Next to him is a steel cage. The metal rattles as the tiger paces. Her muscles twitch with tension.
The raven follows her restlessness along the bars, back and forth. After a crisp shake of his head, he asks, "Why haven't you broken out yet?"
Facing away from him, she stops and hangs her head low. "I can't."
"Like hell you can't."
Wings spread outward and a gust of wind ruffles her fur.
She turns to him.
