Chapter Nineteen

Cami let out a squeak and I threw her a look that screamed 'shut up!'

"We haven't done anything." I argued, looking at Lisa who just shrugged. "We don't know who he is or where he is."

"From the little bits of information I've heard, there's evidence to suggest otherwise."

Evidence? What kind of evidence?

"Look, I'm just giving you some advice, take it if you want. I am surprised though."

"What are you surprised about?"

"Alpha Alessandro. I would have thought he would have had you both locked in the cells and beating the information out of you."

Cami gasped and I clutched her hand. "We obviously haven't done anything, that's why we're not there. This is all just a misunderstanding."

Lisa waved her hands. "Whatever. I'm going to tell you what your day consists of and what you need to do."

"We're actually going to be maid here?" I questioned in shock. What the hell? Why?

"It's either that or the cell, your choice. Your lucky, not everyone gets that choice. I'll take you down to the cells one day and you'll see how lucky you are." Lisa raised her eyebrows and we shook our heads. "Then it's settled. Now follow me."

"This is your room." She led us to a medium sized room with two single beds next to a window that was cracked open. "Don't try to escape, there's Werewolves on patrol every night."

The room was bigger than the one we were in and had a small wardrobe, chest drawer and a bedside table near one of the beds. "The bathroom is through there." Lisa pointed at the door next to the wardrobe.

"I'll bring you a checklist all of the things you need to complete by the end of the day. The Werewolves may ask you do things for them, you will do as they say but you must complete all activities on the list."

"What exactly will we be doing?" I asked hesitantly.

"Cleaning. The pair of you alongside the other maids will clean the house every day. Only difference between you and the other maids is that they get paid to do this and you don't."

"Are all the maids human?"

Lisa nodded. "Yes, all the maids are human. However, the house manager is a Werewolf and chew you out if everything is not completed to her standards. With the kitchen staff, there is a mixture. There are both humans and Werewolves, you'll be able to recognise who they are. Werewolves tend to have a higher status than us."

"Get some rest, tomorrow will be a long day. Make sure you're up and ready by 6:30am. I will give you your uniforms and checklist then."

Lisa turned to leave but then paused at the door. "Alpha has his own maids that work for him, they live on the top floor. However, he has asked for you to serve him from tomorrow."

"Why?"

Lisa ignored me and headed out the door. I turned to Cami as soon as she left. "Are you okay? Did they do anything to you?"

"No, I'm fine." Cami told me. "What's going on? Why are we here?"

"I spoke to the Alpha when you were sleeping." I informed Cami as she let out a gasp. "He's spoke to Alpha Elias and the human ambassador and they've all decided we have to stay here until they find out more about what happened to the Alpha's cousin."
