Chapter Twenty-Six

I was expecting to see the rapist wrapped up in our rug rotting 6 feet under, I wasn't expecting to see just soil and mud.

My mind was spinning as I tried to comprehend what I was seeing. This was definitely the spot we buried him so where was he?

A sickening thought popped into my head. What if he wasn't dead when we buried him? Maybe he was alive and somehow escaped?

I did check for a pulse before wrapping him up in our rug but maybe it's different with Werewolves and he was somehow alive?

Where was the bastard?

"I don't understand, this is the place where I saw them bury him." Miles muttered, his voice filled with bewilderment.

"Well there's nothing here. You've wasted our time." Alpha Alessandro didn't sound disappointed like I thought he would have. He probably didn't believe Miles and didn't want to get his hopes up.

But if he didn't believe him then why did he bring us all out here to find the body. I was beyond confused with what was happening and it looked like Miles was feeling the same way too.

"No I haven't. This is where they did it, I saw it happen. I have pic-"

"That's enough! Shut up." Alpha Alessandro demanded causing Miles to stop talking instantly.

Alpha Alessandro turned his attention towards me. "Did you kill and bury my cousin here?"

I couldn't respond, all I could do was stare at the massive hole in the ground.

Where is the body?

"Nala."

I glanced up to find everyone looking at me expectantly. "No." Only half of it was a lie.

The Alpha must have been satisfied with my answer as he turned back to Miles.

"She's lying! I saw it happen I swear!"

"Then where is the body?" This time it was Beta Kieran who asked the question.

"I-I don't know. Maybe she moved the body?"

There was a possibility that someone moved the body but it definitely couldn't have been Cami. Maybe it was Uncle Tom?

"Nala hasn't left the pack house since today, if there was something there she wouldn't have been able to move it." Beta Kieran told Miles who was turning a bright pink colour.

"Maybe she moved it before that? It's been weeks, she could have moved it anytime." Miles words reeked of desperation and unfortunately for him no one seemed to believe him.

"That's enough." Alpha Alessandro stepped towards Miles who was looking back and forth at me and the hole.

I didn't see it coming and neither did Miles. He had no chance to react or escape, it was too fast and for a few seconds I wondered if that actually happened or not.

Alpha Alessandro moved swiftly behind Miles and moved his arms in front of him as if he was going to choke Miles. I wished he had chocked him because I wasn't ready to experience something this brutal and graphic.

Thick red liquid poured out of Miles's neck and sprayed everyone around him. No one moved an inch, maybe they were as stunned as I was at the sight in front of me?

I on the other hand staggered backwards when specks of Miles's blood splattered onto my face. It landed on my cheeks, my forehead, my clothes- it was everywhere.

"Oh my god." I gasped out when Miles's body crumpled onto the ground.

The sound of Miles choking on his own blood was horrific and completely petrifying but I couldn't look away.
