it was friday, the day before the yule ball. as amelia sat in her last class of the day, transfigurations, she couldn't help but to count down the minutes until dismissal. she played with her hair, completely zoned out of the lesson as the thought of the quidditch match that she would be attending alongside the rest of her friends after class. it was an annual hogwarts tradition, to have a match the day before the ball.
as mcgonagall dismissed the class, amelia immediately went to search for daisy. after a few minutes, she found her talking to luna in the corridor.
"daisy! luna! what are you guys doing?" amelia interrupted their conversation. "we have to get to the quidditch field before all the good seats are taken!" she grabbed her two friends by their arms. the game would be more crowded than usual since it was in celebration of the yule ball. amelia was anxious to see fred and george play, she knew how much they loved the game, but she always feared for them.
the girls laughed, walking to the field with their arms intertwined. "everyone's coming to the game, right?" daisy asked as they began approaching the field.
"neville went early to save us all seats, and ron and hermoine are coming as well. harry and the twins are playing, and i'm not sure about ginny." luna thought through each member of their friend group.
when the trio arrived at the quidditch field, the stands were already packed with various students and teachers. the game was highly anticipated, and everyone was on edge. amelia looked up at the different house towers as her eyes laid on a frantic neville who was waving at the girls. "over there," amelia pointed him out to daisy and luna.
"hi guys!" neville greeted the group as they approached him on the bleachers. ginny was with him, and the pair had saved enough seats for the entire group.
"thanks for getting here so early, neville." amelia took a seat next to him, "you're the sweetest." neville just offered a shy smile in response.
waiting for the game to start was the worst. amelia could feel nervous butterflies swarm inside her as she thought of all the possible outcomes. today's game was gryffindor versus slytherin, and the slytherin house wasn't exactly known for being gracious quidditch players.
however, amelia was shook away from her nervous thoughts as music started blaring throughout the field that was by now, almost full.
"what in merlin's name is that?" daisy asked, leaning across luna to speak to amelia. amelia shrugged in response, looking up at the sky to see where the music was coming from.
as the notes began, amelia quickly realized that the song playing was one of her favorite muggle songs, "cant take my eyes off you."
"amelia!" ginny yelled, getting amelia's attention. she didn't say anything else, rather, just pointed to the sky. and that was when amelia saw him.
a lone fred weasley, sitting on his broom, soaring over the quidditch field. he had used a charm on his wand that seemed to project his voice like a microphone. before amelia could even process what was happening, he began to sing.

amelia couldn't help but to laugh at the poor boy. he soared around the quidditch field, like he was performing in a theater. however, his words were directed at her.
at long last, love had arrived and i thank god i'm alive you're just too good to be true cant take my eyes off of you
by now, the entirety of the student body and staff was watching him. after all, nothing like this had happened at hogwarts before. amelia laughed, her face glowing red from embarrassment as her boyfriend laughed at her.
at once, fred soared into the air, doing flips and swirls on his broom as he finished his performance.

he wasn't really singing anymore, it was more like a loud screaming.

"what have you done to this poor boy?" daisy laughed, looking at amelia in awe. for a moment, amelia had forgotten that all her peers were watching this. after all, fred made her feel like the only girl in the world.
with one final swirl of his broom, fred left the quidditch arena, laughing the entire way back to his team.
for any other player, a severe punishment would be waiting for a stunt like that. however, oliver wood took quidditch very seriously; it was his first priority. fred and george were the best beaters that the team had ever seen. so, he didn't really have a choice but to let fred play, despite his stunt.
"that boy really loves you, amelia." luna turned to amelia once the quidditch match had begun. amelia laughed in response, leaning and putting her head on luna's shoulder.
"what ever am i going to do with him?" amelia giggled in response.
