DAPHNE

I walk into Dagon's study, twirling my wedding band resting behind my engagement ring. Dagon's standing with Erix beside him, they both turn when I walk in.

I wave at Erix and I return the smile Dagon sends me. Sitting comfortably in his chair, I take a piece of candy-from the can of candies he keeps on his desk because of me-and eat it.

"We'll talk later, Erix" he dismisses him. He nods before smiling at me and leaving.

"Did I overwork again?" He questions.

"Yes" I nod. It's ten pm and he's still working. Not to mention he's been here since seven am. Did he even feed? If being the future king is this stressful then I want him to drop the position.

"I think my wife was missing me" he mumbles. I'm about to say something snarky when Erix returns, this time looking worried.

"What is it?" Dagon questions.

"Foreign werewolves were spotted in our territory, they're not causing trouble but they're growing in number rapidly"

Werewolves. I don't like them. Ever since I almost lost Dagon, werewolves give me chills.

"Give me five minutes" Dagon states. His statement makes my eyes snap to his. What?! Five minutes?!

"I'm not letting you go" I state seriously.

"Listen, love-"

"No, you listen, both of you..." I look at him and Erix. "You're not going anywhere near werewolves and you won't tell him anything about werewolves"

It's probably hormones mixed with fear but I'm beyond pissed that Dagon even considered going after everything.

"Erix, handle it, okay?"

"Sure"

As soon as he leaves, I turn to leave as well but Dagon pulls me back, circling his arms around my waist.

"You know what I feel? More than anger, I can feel your fear. Daphne, you can't let what Caspian did affect our lives. He's dead and we should move on".

"It's easy for you to say." I grumble. He has no idea what it's like. Sure, Dagon is alive but it still scares me that he could have died. And when I wake up and he's not beside me, I get scared that he's gone. I can't lose him.

"Daphne, I love you and I'm never leaving you. Remember my wedding vows?"

I remember what he said...

Our bond is eternal...not even death can do us part.

And I said...

Always.

Dagon kneels abruptly and I furrow my brows in confusion. He wraps his arms around my hips and places his lips on my stomach through my dress. He's not kissing my stomach, he's kissing our baby. Our five-month-old baby. A soft smile graces my features.

"Hey, princess, care to tell your mum that I'm not going anywhere?"

"What if it's a boy?" I challenge.

He smiles.

"It's a girl"

I roll my eyes. I really don't mind, whether it's a boy or a girl I don't mind. I just want our baby to have Dagon's eyes.

Dagon rises to his feet.

"Now, that I'm not going anywhere...we should go to bed" he mumbles.

"I'm not sleepy" I laugh.
