"Luka is doing okay, so the two of you can go home in a while," Dr. Suting reassured me with a smile.

"Is Luka really okay?" I asked, a hint of doubt lingering in my voice.

"Yes, he's fine. Nothing is wrong with him," Dr. Suting affirmed, his smile unwavering as he looked at me.

"I need to talk to Luka for a while. Can you please wait for us in my office?" Dr. Suting requested, and I nodded in response before leaving the lab.

Returning to Dr. Suting's office, I found Yori sitting perfectly still, his eyes fixed on a point in the distance without blinking.

"Hey, Yori, are you okay?" I asked, but he didn't respond, maintaining his eerie stillness.

This wasn't the first time he had acted this way, and the familiarity of the situation sent a shiver down my spine. Why did he often become so motionless, like a porcelain doll frozen in time?

Bending down to get a closer look at him, I couldn't help but notice how flawlessly perfect his features were. His button nose, plum lips, long eyelashes, and glass-like skin seemed too immaculate to be real. It was both mesmerizing and unnerving.

As I reached out to touch his cheek, a sense of envy washed over me. Everything about him seemed perfect, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at his flawless appearance.

I found myself wondering what else about him was perfect, and a strange thought crossed my mind—I liked him better when he was like this, motionless and beautiful. It was as if he belonged in a display case, admired by all who laid eyes on him.

Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by a knock at the door. Standing up, I opened it, but there was no one there. Was it just my imagination playing tricks on me?

Another knock sounded, this time closer, and I realized it wasn't coming from the wooden door but from somewhere else—glass, perhaps?

Confused, I looked around the room until my gaze fell on the glass display case in the corner. With a sense of trepidation, I approached it, my heart pounding in my chest.

As I drew closer, I heard another knock, this time unmistakably coming from within the display case. My hands trembled slightly, my mind racing with a mixture of fear and curiosity.

"This is ridiculous. It's not like the doll could knock," I muttered to myself, shaking my head in disbelief. Yori's penchant for horror novels had clearly influenced my thoughts more than I realized.

Taking a deep breath to steady my nerves, I reasoned with myself. Even if the doll were somehow alive, its hands and feet were tied up, rendering it incapable of moving. There had to be a rational explanation for the knocking.

Turning my attention back to the glass display case, I noticed something peculiar. The cloth covering the doll's face had fallen down, revealing more of its features than before. Its sideburns were an unnatural shade of purple, a detail I was certain hadn't been visible earlier.

Before I could ponder this further, an unseen force shattered the glass, sending shards flying in all directions. I barely had time to react before I was knocked to the ground, the force pinning me down against the shards.

My thick clothes offered some protection, but I still felt a sharp pain in my forehead and hands as I hit the ground. Glancing up, I saw the doll's face, its stiff expression now twisted into a sinister smile.

"Yori?" I whispered, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled to comprehend what I was seeing. The doll's eyes seemed to gleam with life, more lively than Yori's had been just moments before.
