Sorry for the delay in chapters my beautiful readers. I'm figuring out story details and the next step. But I also just can't escape wanting to make another story. I'm think of a Halo and Mass effect/Voltron/Steven U crossover?

A thickly plated green boot crashed down upon the forest floor. Snapping twigs and vegetation from the massive amount of weight applied.

Thunder and lightning cracked across the sky as rain poured from the midnight sky.

A man in heavy emerald green Mjolnir continued walking along the forest floor. A woman in blue Mjolnir mk V next to him. Battle rifle in her hands.

"You know it would have been much simpler to have just set up an extraction point for when we captured that gem right?" Naomi said in a snarky time to her Spartan brother.

Will chuckled inside his helmet, external speakers playing the sound her his companion as rain continued to drop off their armor.

Their shields would simply flash boil rain and cause a continuous hiss of steam.

"Well I didn't know the little bastard had acid breath. I didn't account for the fact our radios would be melted into steel scrap."

Naomi rolled her eyes under her visor. The subtle gesture not lost on Will. It was true, some sort of hive of green gems were what they were sent in to neutralize. Then bring back the gems or fragments for containment. Depending on the severity of the situation. She gazed down to her hardcase, patting it to make sure the three green gemstones were still safely inside.

"Well, you may not have come up with a contingency, I did. There should be a local bus stop just a few hundred feet ahead we can catch a lift on. From there we can get back home by mid morning."

Will flashed a green status light on her visor, a sign that he acknowledged and agreed.

The Spartans continued for several hundred more feet before coming to a deserted road. Sorry need by thick trees on both sides and with puddles of water built up on the cracked pavement.

They walked over to the small bus stop a dozen feet down the road. Which wasn't anything more than a flimsy steel bench and a sign. Not much in the way of head cover. Of well, the water wasn't anything for their armor.

"So, you and pearl do anything lately? Or you been hanging out with Six?" Will asked the woman who he saw as his little sister. His golden Mjolnir IV visor staring at her.

Naomi slung her rifle on her Marymount like Will had with his shotgun. She then turned her gaze to him. Her steel eyes narrowing in suspicion at him. It bugged her to no end that she had to look up to most Spartans, considering she was only 6,9 in armor. It was bullshit.

"Why? Trying to play matchmaker for me? Aw, I didn't know you wanted your little sis to get a lover." She said in a mocking tone. A snort shortly followed.

Will shook his helmet. "No, simply curious. You've been spending an awful lot of time with both. It makes one wonder what you could possibly be doing?" He said with a shit eating grin that Naomi knew he had.

"Oh? You been snooping on me? Well wouldn't it be funny if I just so happened to know you have a crush on a certain triangle headed scientist." She said as she inspected her Mjolnir gloves in a playful gesture.

He narrowed his eyes at the Black Ops specialist. She was just as cunning as he remembered. He slowly chuckled as a small blush sat upon his cheeks.

"Don't start a fight you can't finish Will. You should know that by now." She said with a great smile.

The two Spartans simply stood there, waiting for the bus. Relishing in the rare tranquil moment they had in a life full of chaos and war. Where they simply got to be Human.

But suddenly a yellow dot appeared on both their motion trackers. In a moment both turned to see a creature neither had ever seen before stand where there had been nothing before.

It was even taller than the Spartans by a good foot and a half, being just under 9 feet total.

The vaguely bunny like organism was a very round thing. With a belly that would put Homer Simpson to shame. Covered in a soft grey fur with a white belly. It's mouth was nearly imperceptible to a normal being.

The golden visors of the Spartans continued staring at the bunny for another moment before their kijds coped with the situation.

They deactivated their helmet speakers so they could talk without the thingng hearing them.

"You see anything like that witu those crystal gems? Because that don't look like any alien I've ever seen." Naomi told Will.

"Nope, and im not reading a Gemstone either. This is something entirely new to me."

Naomi walked over to the large thing. Staying for enough away to grab her magnum if needed. She held out her hand in front of the bunnies giant eyes. The pupils following her suggesting that it saw her.

"Hey, can you hear me. You understand this at all?" Naomi said to the large creature.

"Can you tell me what your doing here? Give us a sing or something?" Will asked hopefully. But they didn't get any such response.

It was then that Naomi sighed before going back to her spot. But just as she did the rain started pouring even harder. Making an annoying clang as the heavy droplets hit their armor plating.

It was then that the large bunny manifested an umbrella from somewhere. Holding it out to Will. The Spartan stared at the umbrella for a moment before looking back at the bunny.

"You want me to grab it?" He asked. The creature nodded.

The Spartan cautiously took the umbrella before unfolding it into a large blue umbrella that covered both him and Naomi.

He saw her visibly relax as the sound of water on metal stopped.

The three stood there for several minutes before the dull glow of old incandescent bulbs filled the road. A bus the pulled up in front of them and the door opened. The driver gestured for them to get back. Only being slightly surprised to see two supersoldiers in full armor and with weapons.

Will was about to give the umbrella back, but when he looked over the creature was gone. Confusing him further.

Naomi just ignored everything and got on the bus. Will folded the umbrella up before working on with her.

It wasn't until he sat in the seat that he took a better look at the umbrella.

On one of the light blue sides.was a few small symbols in Japanese painted black. It had a simple translation.

"Totoro?" The Spartan said to himself.
