Side Story #3

Within an old small village, two women were in a tower. It was the tallest in the village. They watched over the houses and the people doing their daily duties. The two women were the leaders of this village so it was best to make sure they kept watch to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary.

"Are you sure that they won't come looking for us? I mean...we did betray that man.." A young woman asked.

"It's highly unlikely. With that fool critically injured, we won't be seeing him and the others for a long time." Responded another women with a more mature voice. The sound of babies crying was heard from the next room, stopping the short conversation.

"Looks like the children had woken up. Let's go."

"Okay."

"Auntie?"

Y/n opened her eyes and saw Sasuke staring at her. She noticed she was laying on the couch.

"Are you alright? You looked uncomfortable.."

Y/n sat up. "...I'm fine. Don't worry." She smiled at him. When did she fall asleep?...oh well.

Sasuke stayed silent for a bit. He was skeptical but decided not to pry further. "Team 7 will be going on a mission today. It's nothing special.. just some simple Genin work." He stared at Y/n before turning his gaze somewhere else.
"You might as well stay. Toma and the dog can keep you company. We should be back by noon." The Uchiha continued.

Y/n thought about it for a moment. She didn't feel like going out today. Perhaps rest is what she needed. Plus, Sasuke and Naruto will be going on boring missions with the others. Nothing interesting for Y/n to be there.

Giving up, Y/n sighed. "..alright. I can use a bit of rest." Sasuke nodded. Y/n stood up from the couch and ruffled the boy's black hair before heading towards the direction of the stairs.

"Good luck on your trip."

"Yeah.."

Sasuke watched as Y/n went towards the staircase. She stopped in front of them and stood in silence. A second later, she ascended the stairs.

Sasuke's eyebrows furrowed. This was completely out of character for Y/n. She was perfectly fine before taking a nap..did she suddenly remember something? Or had a bad dream?

Upstairs, Naruto is walking out of his room petting Danny, his now full grown Shiba dog.

Y/n sheepishly smiles at them as she walks past them to her room. "Hm?" Naruto stared at her slightly confused. They got a mission today..is she not coming?

"Hey mom. You're not coming?" Naruto asked. Y/n turned to him.

"Nah, I'm not really feeling it today. Just tell Kakashi I'm not feeling well and tell me about your mission when you get back, okay?"

"Oh, okay."

"Alright, be safe~!" After that, Y/n goes into her room and closes the door.

Naruto stands there for a moment staring at the now closed door, thinking. He then goes down the steps to see Sasuke already standing by the front door.

Naruto rests both his hands on the back of his head. "Hey, Teme. What's up with mom?" He asked.
Usually when they are called for a mission, Y/n is energetic. Now, she sound exhausted. How? It's only been an hour.

"No idea." Was all Sasuke's response. With that, the two headed out the door.
Danny watched as they left. He whimpered, sad that he wasn't able to go too but he quickly got over it, remembering that Y/n was still here.

Toma, Sasuke's now full grown cat, was just scratching the couch a little, enjoying time to herself when she saw Danny run up the steps. She followed him.

Y/n lied on her bed. Once she heard the door close, she sighed. She sat up and looked beside her and saw her table lamp. Reaching inside one of the drawers, she pulls out a picture.

It was a picture of her when she was younger, and a young little boy who was smiling widely into the picture. Both had on very old traditional clothing that no one wore anymore. The picture was also very old- only being in black and white- so no one but Y/n would know who they were in the picture and when the picture was taken.

"If only you were able to live long enough to meet the boys. You would've gotten along with them so well..." Y/n quietly spoke to the picture.

"Even after all these years, you'll still be my number one." She giggled to basically herself. With a moment of silence, she smiled sadly at the picture.

The sound of nails scratching at the door interrupted Y/n followed by a bark.

BARK! BARK!

Meow.

And also a quiet meow.

Y/n opened the door and let the pets in. Toma immediately hopped on the bed, and Danny sat beside it. Y/n petted both of them. "You guys must be lonely whenever me and the boys go on mission." She cooed at them. "Well, I'm sorry but hey! I have the day off. I can spend time with you more, okay?" Toma purred while  Danny licked her face, wagging his tail.

Whilst still petting the animals, Y/n's smile quickly faltered into a serious expression as she stared off in the distance.

'That reminds me...how many years has it been? They'll be here soon...'

'I just know it.'
