I knew he hadn't meant it, but it still hurt. I knew I hurt him by leaving but I also knew if I didn't get out I would do something I would regret. I retreated to the woods, the one place I had been able to find safety growing up. I knew Rumple had lost everyone he had ever loved, some of it his own doing because he wanted to get the pain over with. He was afraid I would do the same thing. "Oh Rumple, I wish you could let go of your fear, it's keeping you from so much. I'm not going to leave you, but you talk to me like that again I will hit you."
I settled in a hallowed out tree for the night. I probably wouldn't hit him, but I would do something to get his attention and get him to shut up. I laid in there in the fallen hallowed tree thinking about how I was going to explain my reaction. He had a right to know, it would come up sooner or later. I may as well head back; Rumple was probably upset and afraid that I wouldn't come back. I climbed out of the log and headed back into town.
