Chapter 36 It's a Wolf Thing

Edward went up to meet Bella as the rest of us waited downstairs. He would be taking her to hunt. I tried not to listen to their conversation as they talked for the first time in days. Once they were gone they were out for little over an hour. Jasper and I spent the time finalizing some wedding plans. Carlisle was going to walk me down the aisle. Edward was the best man and Bella was the maid of honor. Aiden and Emmet were groomsmen. Alice, Esme, and Rose were my bridesmaids. Renesme was the flower girl and Jacob the ring bearer.

I was surprised Bella's outfit wasn't torn to shreds upon her return. Jacob went out to meet Bella when she came back with Edward, worried about what she could do to Renesme. I thought it was funny that a wolf had imprinted on a vampire but so had I.

Bella meeting her daughter went well, she was surprised by her growth rate. I had only seen it once before, in the Amazon. Carlisle and I were talking to her about it when Jake reached for Renesme, "okay that's enough experimenting for one day." Bella pulled her baby closer to her and I growled at him.

"What's your problem?" Bella asked.

"Oh do tell her Jacob," Rose said standing just to the side of him. Edward took Renesme from her and Bella looked at Jacob.

This was going to be interesting. "Don't hurt the ring bearer Bella," I said.

"Look, Bella, it's a wolf thing," Jake started as Rose took Renesme out of Edward's hands.

"What's a wolf thing?"

"It doesn't mean what you, we have no control over it."

"Just spit out it and get it over with Jake," I said.

"Take Renesme out of the room," Bella said and Jake sighed. Edward put his hand on her shoulder trying to calm his wife. "Edward don't touch me right now I don't want to hurt you." With that, she grabbed Jake by the back of the neck and drug him outside and threw him off the porch. "YOU IMPRINTED ON MY DAUGHTER!"

"It's not like that," Jake said not coming closer to Bella.

"SHE'S A BABY!"

"Do you think Edward would let me live if it was?"

"I'm still debating," Edward said from the porch, the rest of us around him watching Bella and Jake circle around a fight.

"I'VE HELD HER ONE TIME JACOB! ONCE! AND ALREADY YOU THINK YOU HAVE SOME MORNIC WOLFY CLAIM ON HER?" Bella asked walking towards Jake. "SHE'S MINE." She punched him and sent him flying back. At that moment Seth and Leah appeared on the scene and were growling at her.

"It's fine Leah," Jake said soothing her.

"Stop her Edward," Esme said worried that Bella would hurt her friend. I wasn't too worried. They wouldn't seriously hurt each other.

"Esme, it's fine, she's incredible," Edward said as Bella continued to hit on Jake and Jake didn't even block. I rolled my eyes. 

"You remember how much you wanted me around three days ago? That's gone now right?" Jake asked.

"Long gone," Bella replied.

"Because it was her, from the beginning it was Nessie who wanted me there." Jake just stepped in it.

"YOU NICKED NAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCH NESS MONSTER!" That was the last straw for Bella. Suddenly Seth jumped in between them as Bella moved toward Jake and Bella caught Seth. Once she had him she threw him against a tree and we all heard bones break. I ran down the porch to him as Jake and Leah ran to his side.

I reset his bones before his accelerated healing could kick in and Leah helped him to his feet. Seth nuzzled me with his muzzle as thanks. "He'll be all right," Jake said turning back to Bella. "Look, Bella, all I want is for Nes-Renesme to be safe, happy. Nothing made sense before, you, me any of it. Now I know why."

Finally, the white flag was waved and Jake came back into the house. Alice, Aiden, Carlisle, and Esme came out of the woods later that evening to show Bella her birthday gift. It was a house in the woods for her, Edward and Renesme. Next summer I would be married. Life was looking good.
