"My first words were not 'I'm going to kill her'," Percy says. "My first word was 'fish.' Just ask my mom."

"Oh," Percy says. 

"...Why was Percy trying to kill someone?" Hazel asks.

"Nancy Bobofit," Percy says. "I think. That's how I start my story when someone asks. She was probably bullying either me or Grover."

"Why would someone ever bully the great Percy Jackson?" Leo asks.

Percy looks at his friend like Leo had grown a second head. "I'm a loser," Percy explains. "A freak. I was an easy target."

Now it's Leo's turn to look at Percy like he'd grown another head. "I don't see it."

"Why isn't anyone questioning Nico's first words?" Jason asks.

"A bit," Percy says. "But Piper, you stole a car? We can be car-stealing buddies!"

Annabeth stares at him. "Percy, when did you steal a car?"

Percy shrugs innocently. "I meant to return it."

Annabeth narrows her eyes. "You didn't answer my question."

"When I had amnesia," he admits.
