Shikamaru went into the playground as usual. Not knowing that day will change his mind and belief to being a Ninja. Choji already lost three times to the shogi but they still continue to play.
"Can I play that too?" Naruto ask politely. Shikamaru immediately look who ask the question and goes back to his slouch position.
"You know how to play this?" Shikamaru ask. Naruto nodded and smile, he was looking forward to a new playmate. Beside, Naruto is the one who offer to play. Plus it is too troublesome to reject his offer.
"I miss playing it but no one wants to play Shogi to me," Naruto added. Shikamaru frown but goes back to the newly disarrange shogi.
"Then play with him," Choji said and let Naruto take his place. Choji stand up to let Naruro take over his chair.
"I'm Uzumaki Naruto by the way," Naruto introduce himself and offer his hand.
"Nara Shikamaru, that was Akamichi Choji," Naruto smile and take Naruto's hand and shake. Then Naruto sit in Choji's sit a while ago.
"Nice meeting you both," Naruto said and rearrange the the Shogi board.
They start playing it and Shikamaru find Naruto a veteran to the Shogi. He moves his piece that looks like a reckless one but he fall for it 3 times. He can't help but to be challenge. Shikamaru frown, aside from his father, no one manage to win over him. Its the first time actually and he felt the rush and enjoyment to their battle. Its the first time that someone can challenge his intelligence.
"Your good towards this," Shikamaru commented while battling with Naruto.
"I love this game as well as Go," Naruto reply simply.
"Wow! You manage to challange Shikamaru," Choji said shocked to that event. Naruto chuckle, Shikamaru didn't felt bad that he lost to him. It was actually fun that someone manage to make him think his own strategy.
But as expected to Nara, Naruto find it hard to beat Shikamaru.
"Are you going to be a Ninja? With this analytical abilities, you'll be a fine Ninja," Naruto commented randomly said.
"Well, my families are all Ninja. I want to but I like to become a ninja not too strong but not too weak," Shikamaru reply and put another piece to kill one of Naruto's pawn.
"So you wanted to be at the middle? I'll be honest, you should quit if you want to," he seriously said. Shikamaru's bishop hang in the air and look to Naruto with frown.
"Huh? What a drag! What do you mean by that?" Shikamaru ask. Choji curiously stare to Naruto is. Choji also frown because of Naruto's frank comments.
"In the world of Ninja, those who weak or average is intended to die young. You need to become as powerful as you can to survive. If not, someday, you'll regret it. There is a lot of circumstances that you might die or someone who's important you die because of your weakness. As long as you wanted to be a ninja, you need to be strong enough to survive," he explain as he smirk. Shikamaru process the information first and saw the point of Naruto.
"Checkmate," he calmly said. Shikamaru and Choji analyze the Shogi board and in just one moves, he will beat Shikamaru. He was corner when he analyze the board, no matter what move he will do, he can't see any escape route. When Shikamaru is corner he can't help but to look at Naruto amusingly.
"Maybe your right. Troublesome," he murmur Choji nodded and analyze what Naruto told them.
"So you'll train?" Naruto ask.
"I guess so," Shikamaru reply.
"I can help you both if you wanted to train. Just find me at the Ichiraku Ramen Stand in the hour of 11am to 12 pm," Naruto offered. Shikamaru's eye brows raised but nodded.
"Shikamaru! Do you know Go?" Shikamaru nodded. Of course it is a game board.
"Well, lets play that too. Its already been so long the last time I play that," Shikamaru and Choji nodded.
"We'll go tomorrow," Naruto nodded and both went home. Shikamaru ask his Mother about Naruto's word but Yoshino told him to ask his father.
Shikaku was shock but answer him with the story how he got his scares in his face. By then, Shikamaru got an answer and started his training under Naruto.

"Shika, remember this arrangement?" Naruto presented him the shogi arrangements when Naruto manage to corner him.
"Yes, why?" Shikamaru ask curiously. He was reading the first volume of the Introduction of Ninshū that Naruto gave them each.
"When I observe your strategy in Shogi, I manage to notice something. Why are you always retreating when there is a good opportunity to attack?" Naruto ask curiously.
"If I risk to do it, there will be a lot of troublesome obstacles I need to face," Shikamaru plainly reply.
"Your mindset should not be like that, Shika. These game Shogi is like a battlefield too. Just like these, your King was corner. If this happen in real life, what will you do? Just like my attack in Shogi, I am reckless and love to risk attacks I don't know the consequences. But when you look at it, the attack was actually well prepared. May I know, for you who was the King?" Naruto seriously ask.
"Of course it is the Hokage or the Daimyo," Shikamaru immediately answer.
"No, the Hokage and the Daimyo are the Queen as they have the powerful attack that represents their power politically and physically. But they would never become the King," Naruto said and take the King in the arrangement.
"Just look at this, the King is the weakest piece but the most important one to ensure your win. Who fits the description?" Naruto ask with a smile.
With Shikamaru's genius mind, he over look everything and needed two days to crack Naruto's question.
"The new generation, the Kids. They are the King!" Shikamaru said to Naruto. Naruro chuckle and nodded.
"You're right, it is the new Generation. They might be weak but we need to guide them and protect them as our future will be base on them," Shikamaru said as she realize everything.
"You're right, the Children is the king. Now, we will work to your strategizing abilities. I wanted you to solve this 100 different puzzle one piece everyday. Just put a little chakra to the scroll and the easiest question be fire away. And it will be more and more difficult as you rise from below," Naruto said and gave him the scroll. So troublesome, why did he actually accept this position?
