Even though he joined the crew later, Qin Lu quickly got along well with everyone on set. However, he also noticed that Liu Yuzhi and Mo Yizhi hardly had any private interactions with Li Yanyu.

Apart from working normally during filming, there was zero communication off-set.

Li Yanyu's straightforward manner of speaking didn't make him very likable, so even though he had good looks and acting skills, there weren't many people on set who wanted to get close to him, except for Qin Lu.

It was quite apparent that joining this production wasn't Li Yanyu's first time, nor was it his first time facing this situation. He seemed quite accustomed to being alone. During a brief break, when he felt someone approaching, Li Yanyu initially thought it was an assistant bringing food, but when he looked up, he saw Qin Lu standing in front of him.

He shook the two lunchboxes in his hand. "Let's eat together."

Li Yanyu glanced at him unexpectedly but didn't refuse.

The others in the crew speculated that Qin Lu approached Li Yanyu because he had been alone all the time, and they couldn't help but sigh at how young and pure Qin Lu was. It wasn't that they intentionally ostracized Li Yanyu; there were plenty of easy-going people on set, so why force oneself to be with someone they didn't like? After all, it was just cooperation for this one project.

Qin Lu naturally ate at a slow pace, but Li Yanyu mostly just held the chopsticks, lost in thought. Ten minutes passed, and the lunchboxes remained nearly untouched.

Qin Lu glanced at Li Yanyu's lunchbox. The crew's meals weren't exactly lavish, just a portion of meat, a portion of vegetables, and rice. "Not hungry?"

Li Yanyu put down the chopsticks and leaned back in his chair. "Not hungry. You eat more; it'll help you grow taller."

Qin Lu noticed a hint of agitation in his expression, and his fingers began tapping on the armrest.

He knew why Li Yanyu was feeling this way. In the scene they had just finished, Li Yanyu had numerous NGs in a row. The director said his performance wasn't right, but Li Yanyu couldn't grasp the right feeling no matter how hard he tried. Since it was lunchtime, filming for that scene had temporarily stopped, to be resumed after the break.

Li Yanyu's previously stable state had become unstable again.

Qin Lu didn't offer to rehearse scenes with Li Yanyu because his issue wasn't related to acting. What he needed was relaxation.

After tidying up the lunchboxes, Qin Lu took out a thick workbook from his bag and naturally began doing exercises next to Li Yanyu.

The faint scratching of the pen on paper, though not loud, could be heard by Li Yanyu, who was close by. He looked down at Qin Lu, who was earnestly working on his exercises. At that moment, Qin Lu didn't seem like an actor; he had a student-like demeanor rarely seen in the entertainment industry. Wearing a white robe and a wig, which was quite stuffy, Qin Lu had asked the stylist to tie it up when not filming, making him look refreshed.

Doing homework in a robe at his age was the best time, full of hope no matter what he did.

Unconsciously, the white noise of writing might have had a soothing effect on Li Yanyu's emotions, as his tapping on the armrest slowed down.

His hand fell on his own arm, unconsciously rubbing it.

Qin Lu noticed the pause in the pen's movement.

"I'll go to the restroom."

Li Yanyu smoothly completed the afternoon scene.

When they returned to the hotel in the evening, Qin Lu noticed that the bandage on Li Yanyu's arm had thickened.

Qin Lu wouldn't be staying on the set for long. In another two days, he would have to fly back to Yijing City for a variety show recording.

However, Li Yanyu's issues couldn't be solved gradually because there wasn't anyone around him who could help. Qin Lu had searched and found that Li Yanyu had mentioned rarely seeing his parents since their divorce, and his grandmother, who raised him, had passed away two years ago.

He had a tendency for self-harm.

Although Li Yanyu initially approached Qin Lu for scene rehearsals, he hadn't expected Qin Lu to genuinely be willing to sacrifice sleep time every day to help him run through the script. Unlike others who might have become impatient, Qin Lu always responded with a smile and patience whenever Li Yanyu sought him out. Sometimes, when Qin Lu was in the middle of doing exercises, Li Yanyu would naturally choose to help him rehearse first.

Li Yanyu wasn't sure if Qin Lu was just naturally warm-hearted, but perhaps people always sought to save themselves, so he chose to follow his subconscious actions.

He suffered from severe anxiety, always hoping to excel in everything but feeling like he fell short, unable to accomplish many things.

Bipolar disorder has its phases; sometimes Li Yanyu felt perfectly normal, sometimes he experienced extreme mood swings and agitation, and other times he felt deeply depressed. He had been taking medication, but because of adverse reactions from overdosing, he tried to avoid taking them, which worsened his condition.

His condition fluctuated unpredictably; sometimes everything seemed fine, but suddenly he might relapse.

Acting was something he loved to do, and his doctor said it could be beneficial. Through acting, he could briefly become someone else, experiencing complex positive emotions or happiness, which helped him cope.

Because of this, although he could have taken on more complex roles, doctors advised him against accepting roles with too many negative emotional fluctuations. That's why he always ended up playing roles like businessmen or corporate CEOs.

Li Yanyu didn't know how he had gradually become what he was now.

When Li Yanyu was lost in thought, Qin Lu reached out to him. "Brother Yu."

It was a package of seaweed snacks with a cartoon panda on it.

Li Yanyu was taken aback. "How did you know I like these?"

Qin Lu smiled. "I searched it up."

Li Yanyu took it. "Why search this up?"

Qin Lu made a thoughtful sound. "To bring happiness."

Li Yanyu asked, "Can happiness be manufactured?"

Qin Lu looked at him gently and simply said, "Yes."

Li Yanyu didn't say anything and finished the seaweed snacks.

From then on, Qin Lu frequently offered Li Yanyu various snacks on set. The crew thought it was because Qin Lu liked snacks, considering Qin Lu was the youngest among the cast and had quite an age difference with the others.

Since Qin Lu offered snacks to more than just Li Yanyu, he didn't refuse, although he still didn't touch his lunchbox much. However, he would eat the seaweed snacks that Qin Lu handed him.

On the day before leaving, Qin Lu felt that Li Yanyu's condition was improving, but that day, there was a bit of a problem during filming.

Li Yanyu's emotions spiraled out of control again.
