Chapter 8: Cinderella Part 3

(Lucinda's POV)

One, two, three
One, two, three
And twirl!

And the music ended. I bowed towards my dance partner and then let him lead me towards the table where I sat down next to my brother. As I sat down I watched Eric go to his parents. He was dressed in a very prince-like-costume that you usually only saw in the movies. Only for a brief moment did his eyes meet Emily's. She was nervous, I could tell. But then again, who wouldn't be?

(Third person's POV)

"Dear, honoured guests. This night has been very pleasant I hope..." Eric said through a mic that one of the butlers gave him. "But unfortunately it's about to come to an end" his eyes darted towards a clock. It was an old antique made of gold and had the roman numbers on it. The clock showed one minute till midnight. During that minute a young woman walked towards him. "We all know that this ball was held in order to present my fiancée. Now let me introduce her!" he held out his arm and the young woman dressed in a white wedding dress went up to him. They gave each other a smile before she took off her mask. "Emily Bergström!" 

Gaps was heard all over the ball hall. But the most surprised one was probably The Queen. The one who had been smiling the most during this evening until now.

"Eric! What's the meaning of this!?" The King and Queen shouted in their minds but somehow managed to put on their poker faces just for the sake of their images. 

"Honoured guests... my subjects. I've loved this young woman since I was a child. I know she isn't perfect. Not the one you would chose to be with me. But I love her. And I want to spend the rest of my life with her. Please give me your blessing. And please don't hate me for following my heart" he bowed towards them.

Somewhere in the silence a clap could be heard. Following the clap someone else clapped and then another and another. Until everyone was applauding. 

That did it. That was the public giving their recognition and blessing towards the couple. And The King and Queen had no right to interfere so they gave their blessing too, even though they both thought it was such a pity that they wouldn't get beautiful, flawless and talented grandchildren now.

(Lucinda's POV)

The next day the royal couple was all over the media. They were the new hot thing. And their story was called "Cinderella" due to it being like a cinderella story.

I watched the news reporter interview the royal couple which was trying their best to not look nervous. Although it went well for Eric it didn't go to well for Emily. She simply wasn't used to being in the spotlight.

"Seems like your little plan went well, little sister" Ralph said while brushing his hands through my hair. 
"Of course it would" I said from his lap.
"Still I don't understand why you would do such a thing. Don't you want to be a princess?"
"Of course I would. But I would rather want to become the princess of just one man who would love me with all his heart than a man who would only see me as his second. I want to be the first in a person's heart...".

My head who was on his lap shook.

"And that is something Eric can't fulfill".

"You liked him?"

"Yes, but it was only a crush. And I will soon get over it like the others..." I told him and went up to go to bed.

"Hey! What do you mean by 'like the others'!" he yelled after her.

Jealous brother, I laughed inside myself.

(Third person's POV)

Aaaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!

Crash! Crash! Smash!

Sounds of breaking glasses and other things were heard.

The servants in the mansion were all scared.

Their mistress had gone insane.
