Bucky's POV

I wake up the next morning and sleepily drag myself to the kitchen where the smell of bacon instantly wakes me up. I turn the corner to find Kate making breakfast.

"Good morning, doll." I smile at the sight of her.

She turns her head and smiles back. "Good morning. Is everyone else up?"

"Um, I'm not sure." I check the time to see that it's almost 8. "They should be."

"Perfect." She says, turning back to the stovetop to finish cooking.

"So, how'd you end up with a guy like Stark?" I ask, leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Believe it or not, we used to be friends when we were little." She laughs.

"No way, I can't even imagine Stark as a kid." I laugh.

"It's true, I have the pictures to prove it." She shakes her head. "Anyway, I moved away after college to.. do my own thing.." she chooses her words carefully. "When I came back, Tony and I reconnected and it just sorta happened I guess."

"You know," I speak quietly, stepping closer to her as she flips the pancakes, "I bet our love story would be so much better." Her cheeks redden and I smirk, knowing that I still have the Barnes charm.

"It smells amazing in here." Natasha says as she walks into the room followed by Bruce, Clint, and Steve.

"Right? Isn't Kate the greatest?" I smile, wrapping an arm around her waist. I notice Steve giving me a look and raise an eyebrow at him.

"Barnes, get your arm off of my girlfriend." Tony says as he walks in. I quickly move away from her and over to the others.

"What do you think you're doing?" Natasha whisper-yells. "Tony will have your head on a platter if you even think about making a move on Kate."

"Who says I haven't already made one?" I smirk, glancing over at Kate who's saying something to Tony.

Steve's POV

Thor and Sam decide to join us and everyone takes a seat at the table once Kate tells us that breakfast is ready. Throughout breakfast Sam teases Bucky; Clint, Nat, and Thor stuff their faces; and Bruce and Tony have a conversation about something they're doing in the lab; leaving Kate and I to chat about something.

"You didn't have to make breakfast for everyone you know." I say, getting her attention. "I mean I'm not complaining, it's delicious, but you didn't have to."

She smiles. "I know, I just usually wake up early and I decided to do something productive."

"Well, thank you." I smile at her.

After everyone is done eating, Clint, Nat, Bucky, and Sam run off to the training room; Bruce and Tony disappear to the lab; and Thor retreats to the couch. Kate collects their dishes and brings them to the sink to clean them when I stop her.

"I'll get them." I say, not realizing that I'm holding her hand. "You did more than enough today, you're supposed to be our guest."

She looks down at our hands and I quickly let go as I realized what I was doing. "It's fine Steve, I don't mind." She turns the water on. "You've probably got something more important to do like train or upgrade your weapons."

"You've got a point, but I'd rather be here." I say, stepping towards her. She looks up at me and quickly glances down at my lips before stepping back and looking away as her face turns pink.

"Fine. You wash, I'll dry." She says, grabbing a dish cloth.

I open my mouth to argue for her to go relax but she crosses her arms and I sigh. "Fine."

Kate's POV

As Steve washes the dishes and I dry them, our hands graze each other's every now and then, sending chills down my spine every time they do. It was nice having pure quality time like this with someone, I only wish Tony would care this much.

I must've been lost in my thoughts because I snap back to reality when Steve calls my name.

"What?" I ask, looking up at him.

"You've been drying the last dish for two minutes." He chuckles. I realize that he's right and blush before putting the plate down. "I'm starting to think you just want to keep me here." He teases.

"Maybe I do." I wink, making him blush. Just as he's about to say something, Thor shouts from the couch.

"Lady Kate! You're on the electronic screen!" He shouts, his mouth full of pop tarts.

I furrow my eyebrows as Steve and I walk over to him. I realize that the news is on and sit beside Thor to listen to the program.

'Business woman Kate Valentine was spotted leaving the Stark Malibu residence and landing in New York. What does this mean for our beloved Iron Man?'

I roll my eyes. "It's more about Tony than it is about me." I stifle a laugh. "I'm not surprised, all I'm ever asked about is Tony."

I turn to walk away but meet Steve's chest instead. "Do you wanna go for a walk?" He asks, looking down at me.

"Um, sure. Just let me change first." I say, realizing I'm still in my pajamas. "I'll meet you down here in like 15 minutes?" I ask, he nods.

I get into the elevator and press the button to Tony's floor. Once I'm in his room, I open my suitcase and pick out a cute sundress to wear and strapped sandals--after all, it is the middle of summer. As I finish fixing my hair and applying some makeup, the door swings open.

"I've been looking all over for you." Tony says, appearing in the mirror behind me. He furrows his eyebrows as he realizes what I'm wearing. "Where do you think you're going dressed like that?"

"For a walk." I say, putting my things away. "With Steve."

"To hell you are." He clenches his fists.

"What's the big deal Tony? You disappear all morning to play with your toys, you move away and ignore me for 5 months to mess around with other girls and play hero. Why do you care all of the sudden?" I snap. I stare at him, he has a shocked expression on his face, and wait for a response that never comes. "That's what I thought. I'll be back before dinner." I grab my little purse with just my phone and wallet in it before walking past him and to the elevator.
