Steve's POV

"Who is that?" Kate asks, her arm around mine as we walk behind Bucky and Susan.

"She and Bucky used to.. fondue.." I say, she nods. I notice a change in her behavior, she seems a bit awkward--probably because this random girl now joined us--so I decide to take her mind off of the weirdness. "Why don't we go in one of the funhouses?"

"Sure, but you have to go first so that I don't bang into the mirrors in the maze." She laughs.

I grin at her and we both walk over to the funhouse, not bothering to inform the other two. As we navigate our way through the mirrors, Kate slips her hand into mine and follows closely behind me. She laughs every time I bump into a mirror so I put my other hand out to feel in front of me.

We finally get through the maze and make our way passed the moving floors and stairs. On the top floor, there are mirrors that make your body look misshapen, which Kate and I spend way too long posing in front of and laughing at.

At the end of the hall is a swirly slide. I go first, getting stuck in the small slide and scooting down the rest of it. Once I get out, I feel someone jerk me backwards.

"Where the hell have you been? I was scared to death!" Bucky scolds me. "Where's Kate?"

Just as he finishes asking, she jumps off of the slide giggling. Bucky looks at her and then at me.

"What's next?" Kate asks, walking over to us.

"We should go on a scary ride!" Susan says, grabbing Bucky's hand. She leads the three of us to the ride she's talking about and we wait on line. "Do you guys mind if we go first?" She asks, turning to Kate and I.

"Not at all." Kate smiles at Susan and doesn't even look at Bucky. The two of them slide into the seats and Kate and I get into the next cart.

"You alright?" I ask, noticing how she's sorta hunched over.

"Yeah.. Just.. I don't like scary rides." She admits.

"There's nothing to be scared of, I'll protect you." I wink at her and she blushes. I wrap an arm around her protectively and she slides closer to me.

Bucky's POV

"Why are you really here?" I ask Susan, my arms crossed in front of me.

"I miss you." She sighs, not even paying attention to the ride.

I hear what sounds like Kate's scream come from somewhere in the dark room that the rollercoaster is in and immediately jump. I then hear laughing and sigh in relief.

"We broke up years ago." I state.

"So? I loved you so much, I never really stopped." She says.

The ride ends and we get out of the cart to wait Steve and Kate. Their cart emerges from the dark room and I see Kate hiding her face in Steve's chest while his arm is wrapped around her.

I clench my jaw and take a deep breath. He says something to her and she lifts her head before jumping out of the cart.

"Ferris wheel?" I suggest, looking directly at Kate.

She glances at me before quickly looking away. "I'm actually kinda hungry." She says. "You guys can go ahead, Steve and I will catch up with you."

I clench my fists at Steve's stupid grin. "No, I'm actually hungry too." I lie.

We walk to one of the food stands and Steve orders and pays for both him and Kate, who thanks him. I order and pay for myself as Susan does the same. The four of us are sitting at a table after getting our food when I realize that Kate and Steve are sharing a lemonade.

"Buck." Susan speaks up. "Can you walk to the bathroom with me?"

I look at her and the crowd of people around and agree so that she doesn't get lost or taken.

"So what's with that girl?" She asks as we walk.

"Her name is Kate." I say. "We're really good friends."

"Mhm." She speaks again. "How long have her and Steve been together?"

"They're.. they're not." I say, being careful not to slip up.

"Oh, really?" She asks, shocked. "I just assumed because of the way they look at eachother that they were-"

"They're not. They never were." I cut her off once we reach the bathroom. She nods and hurries inside before meeting me again outside.

We walk back to the table in silence to find Kate and Steve awfully close as they talk. I clear my throat and they both jump away from eachother.

"Ferris wheel?" I suggest again and they agree this time.

We wait on line, chatting about what rides to go on next, and finally reach the front. Thank God the minimum number of people allowed on is 4. We all step on and Susan sits beside me, forcing the other two to the other side.

Kate leans her head on Steve's shoulder and he put his arm around her shoulder.

"You two would totally be like.. The cutest couple ever." Susan smiles at them as she scoots closer to me.

"You think so?" Steve asks, looking down at Kate.

"Absolutely." Susan continues. "Why haven't you two gotten together, exactly?"

"It's.. Complicated." Kate sighs, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

Susan nods in response. "Well whatever it is must be important if it's keeping you from a man like Steve."

Kate's eyes quickly glance up at me. "It is."

"Well I'll wait as long as you need me to, sweetheart." Steve flirts, kissing the top of her head. Kate blushes and smiles up at him.

Our ride on the ferris wheel is over and the four of us hop off of the carriage. We go on some more rides before stopping to play some of the games and failing miserably at most of them. Steve does the one where you have to do a certain amount of pull-ups to win a prize--which is think is cheating since he's a super soldier--but he does way more than needed and wins a giant stuffed bear for Kate.

"Oh my gosh!" She smiles, hugging him. "I love him, thank you." She says, hugging the bear.
