Woman of Intelligence (Book 2 in the series)

Chapter 5

It was five o'clock in the morning. Riya was getting ready to go to work. She was zipping her tight dark blue skirt which was making her feel uncomfortable. Her hair was put in a neat bun because that was the only hairstyle she loved. She was looking at herself in front of the mirror door. Everything was perfect in her eyes. All she needed was to put some jewelry. She started looking in her medium size jewelry box. She was looking for her small cream pearl earrings. Jewelry had to be worn because it was part of the uniform. For women, formal skirt, buttoned shirt and jewelry. For men, formal pants, buttoned shirt and a watch. Riya did not like the clothes she had to wear to work. It made her feel so uncomfortable. When her former Captain was still there, he did not care about what his officers wore. As long as they were wearing formal clothes and they were comfortable. The former Captain also did not care about the officers wearing accessories to work. 

Riya still could not find her earrings. She placed her hands on her hips, looking at the jewelry box. She did not have much jewelry. There was still nothing on her purple table. She was starting to believe that her earrings were Liang's closet room. She looked at her room door for a minute, looking really lost. Liang's door was wide opened. She walked towards the room, flapping her hands on her hips. The moment she stepped out of the room, her body was heating up. She could not stand Singapore's weather. She stopped by the door then checked if Liang was around. He was busy looking at his phone while drinking his protein shake. Sweat was dripping on his bare python tattoo back. Riya was getting used to the tattoo lately. She did not have to run away when his tattoo was showing. She was about to knock.

"Come in Moods.", he knew she was at the door. 

Riya slightly startled then cleared her throat. "I'm looking for my earrings.", she went straight to the point. 

Liang looked at her. Riya was about to continue when she saw his chest. There a an eagle tattoo on his chest with its wings wide open. The tattoo was covering most of his big chest. That was Liang's latest tattoo. She shook her head to wake herself up. 

"Can I look in your closet to find them?"

"Go.", he drank a last bit of his protein shake.

She was walking pass him. "I don't understand how you drink those shakes.", she entered the closet room.

He gulped the last bit of liquid. "Firstly, they taste pretty good. For your information, this is water.", he corrected her. 

"Seriously, how come?", she said inside the closet room. 

"Because I ran out of protein shake."

"Oh.", she sounded disappointed. 

Liang placed the bottle on the table then walked to the closet room. He entered inside and saw Riya looking at the table compartment. Liang kept his watches, jewelries and ties in the compartment. Riya was checking if she mistakenly left her earrings in there. She could not find her earrings. 

"I don't understand why Mr Wright is forcing us to wear jewelry.", she was slightly angry. 

"Seriously."

"Earrings, necklace and ring. There is one problem, I don't have a ring.", she was being serious. 

"Will you get into trouble for not using a ring?"

"Yes.", she was still looking for the her earrings. 

Liang walked further into the room. "That's ridiculous though.", he stopped by her table compartment.  

He looked at her. She was looking stressed while looking for her earrings. He started looking around like the corners and the floors. Riya still could not find anything. Now she was also looking at the floors. They were being careful not messing up the clothes. Liang found something shiny on the floor. The light of that object was glaring right in his eyes. He stretched his arm underneath the cupboards. The clothes were in his way so he had to be careful not to mess them up. His clothes were arranged neatly. He slowly bought the object without breaking or causing any scratches. The object slid right by his chest. It was a cream pearl earring. He picked it up and placed it on his palm. He got up while balancing the earring on his palm. He stood upright then turned around. Riya was standing in front of him. She also had her palm out. There was also a cream pearl earring on her palm.

"Finally, we found the earrings I needed.", she was happy about that. 

"Now I understood why you lost them. They are pretty tiny. Make sure you don't lose them again.", he placed the one on her palm. 

"Thank you.", she stood on her toes and pressed her lips on Liang's right cheek. "You really deserved a kiss because you just saved my life. I will see you later.", she moved away from him then walked out of the room.

Liang was frozen after she kissed him. He started smiling and gently stroking his right cheek. He found the kiss beautiful that he could not take his fingers off his cheek. His heart was filled with joy. He started walking out of the door, dancing with joy.
