A loud noise startled Sadie awake

"Ambulance 61, man down, unknown causes. 93 West Davis Street."

She was at the firehouse on her usual bunk. She sat up, wiping sleep from her eyes wondering how she got there.

She found her phone in her bag and checked the time, it was 7:45 in the morning.

She knew shift was ending at eight, so she grabbed her bag with the good arm and made her way down stairs.

Everyone was up and about cleaning up and getting their things ready to go.

"Good morning Sadie, how you feelin?"

Cruze greeted her in the hallway with his signature smile

"Uh good..a little confused on how I got here? And where my hoodie is...."

She had looked for it around her bunk and in her bag, she couldnt find it.

"Well after they fixed your arm Brett brought you back in the ambulance, and Capp carried you upstairs. And as for your hoodie...they actually had to cut it off to get to your arm."

Sadie scowled, she loved that hoodie. There was nothing really special about it, but it was comfortable.

"But no worries. I went to the commissary and got you this!"

He pulled out a new dark blue Chicago FD hoodie.

"Aww Cruze! Thank you!"

She took it and put it on, tugging the sleeve down over her cast.

"Kelly will thank you too, I kept stealing his."

"Hey there kiddo, lookin good."

Stella walked up to the pair

"You ready to go?"

"Yeah. Thanks again Cruze."

"Any time"

They made their way out to Stella's Jeep, as she pulled away from the curb Sadie looked at her in confusion.

"Uh Stell? The hospital is the other way."

"We are not going to the hospital today, we are going home-"

"But-"

"-Because Kelly is going to be getting tests and stuff done all day today and we don't need to be there getting in the way."

"Why? Is something wrong?"

"Nope, as long as everything looks good he is coming home tomorrow."

Stella flashed a smile at Sadie

"Finally!"

A few weeks later Kelly pulled his Mustang up in front of Sadie's school.

"Have a good day, Sades."

He leaned over giving her a kiss on the cheek.

She looked back at him with a look he couldn't place.

"What?"

"Are you sure you're ready to go back to work?"

She asked feeling nervous

"Yes, I am. The Doctors cleared me too...I'll be fine."

"Please be careful? No superman shit?"

"Language"

He warned

"I promise ok? I'll be careful.....as I can be..."

"Kelly!"

"Get your ass to school! Love you!"

He laughed before giving her a playful shove. She watched as he waved with a smile and pulled away.

Arriving at Firehouse 51, no one was on the app floor. Walking in, no one was in the common room either. Kelly started to get a creepy sense of dejavu.

Seeing the blinds closed to the briefing room he made his way closer, opening the door to a chorus of

"WELCOME BACK SEVERIDE!"

He was swarmed with hugs and "welcome backs" and "great to see you"

Even though they had all seen each other almost everyday.

The last to greet him was Chief Boden

"Great to see you back, Severide."

They shook hands

"Great to be back."

"You ready? You feel good?"

"Better than ever Chief."
