Comic Con – Hayes Grier Imagine

“Come, on, Gracie, let’s go!” I yelled to my older sister, as I sprinted towards the convention center.

“I’m trying!” she screamed back. “These shoes are hard to run in!” I laughed a little bit, but continued to run towards the doors. As soon as we were both safely inside, I could hear the thunder outside and I could see the flashing lightning. My hair was soaked, and Gracie was panting from all the running. “Can we go to the bathroom? I think my crown is messed up,” Gracie asked, reaching her hand up to adjust the gold crown in her hair. I nodded and I looked around the convention center, trying to spot a bathroom sign.

There was one right next to a huge poster of Spiderman. I giggled to myself as we rushed over. The bathroom was empty, and we trotted over to the large mirror on the wall. I looked myself up and down. My Superwoman costume still looked as perfect as it did when I put it on this morning. I adjusted my red cape and pulled on my boots. My hair looked fine, it was a little wavy from all the rain and humidity, but it still looked okay. Gracie’s Wonder Woman costume was a little wrinkled, but she smoothed it with her fingers.

I stretched my arms up and Gracie repositioned the cuffs on her wrists just as the lights in the bathroom began to flicker. I looked up. The lights totally went out. And a huge crash was heard from outside. There were a couple of screams, and Gracie and I left the bathroom to see what was going on. The huge windows at the front of the convention center displayed the huge lightning bolts erupting from the sky. Far to the right of the 400 foot room, was a huge crack in the ceiling, and I could see rain pouring through it, along with a couple of tree branches. Damn, I thought. It was dark in the center and it was hard for me to see.

There were plenty of people dressed as their favorite characters, but in the darkness, I couldn’t tell who anyone was supposed to be. I pulled Gracie with me towards the wall to wait for the lights to come back on, and as we walked, I had to squint to be able to see what was ahead of me. I rammed into something hard and tall. “Oh!” I gasped. I almost fell back, but a strong arm pulled me back up. Even in the darkness, I could see his light blue eyes… they sparkled… especially against his Superman costume. He smiled.

“Thanks…” I said breathlessly. My hand was on his chest. I could feel muscle. My cheeks flushed red. I hope he couldn’t see.

“Hi,” he said.

“Hi,” I said back. He held me up right. I quickly took my hands away and brushed the non-existent dirt off my dress. He reached for my hand and pulled it away from my costume, smiling at me. I could feel his thumb brushing over the back of my hand.

“You look really pretty,” he said sweetly.

“Thanks…” I said, looking down at myself.

To say the least, Hayes and I hung out all day. Now, don’t think I left Gracie all alone. She hung out with Hayes’s brother… Nash, I think? And that was just the beginning.
