I had the purest of intentions
For her. It was an attitude
I never displayed to anyone before.
Knowing the type of man
I could be, my determination
To help her push through in life was strong
Enough to make me realize my compassion
Holds so much meaning to people.
In return, she helped me out
Instead of taking advantage of my kindness.
In some ways, I always knew good people
Existed in this world, but it was this period
In my life that gave me the evidence.
Even up to now, I hold onto
These memories as a reminder.
