Fliamma Kingdom, Continent of Humana

THE MORNING was a pleasant azure hue with the sun hidden in the clouds and accompanied by the cold waft of the winds.

Elise's body trembled slightly even with her reefers on. However, it was not even a second until a scarf wrapped around her neck. She glanced at the stoic man beside her and gladly tightened it.

Aricson truly emitted an aristocratic aura with his outfit today. He usually wore a dark-colored dress shirt over a coat but this time he was dressed formally.

The trench coat was replaced with a black frock coat that emphasized his well-built physique. The black dress shirt was hidden beneath the cerise-toned vest inlined with golden buttons. It was topped with a pure white cravat that was impeccably creased. Even his black trousers were smoothened into flawlessness and he combined them with brown leathered boots. In short, he was perfection itself.

"It's better if we wait inside," Arcison said, succeeding in distracting her from her thoughts.

Today was the day they planned to leave the island and her schedule was to take the Healer Qualifications. Sapphire was supposed to go with them together to the mainland but she was running late.

Aricson opened the carriage door himself and they stepped inside. She didn't question why they sat beside each other. They had been in close proximity for a while now that she had become adapted to it.

Several minutes later, the carriage door burst open. The mass array of purple hair appeared. Sapphire was pulling herself together, puffing out heavy breaths before she bowed and tapped her chest twice.

"Good morning, Rei. Good morning, Miss." Sapphire, then, pivoted to her. She suddenly kowtowed right in the limited space between the seats of the carriage.

"I deeply apologize, Miss Elise!"

"What are you talking about?" Her brows knotted, ruminating what she was apologizing for.

"I'm very sorry for the misunderstanding, Miss Elise. Daniel told me the truth already," Sapphire clarified.

"Wait a minute, please do sit down first." Elise was honestly flustered by Sapphire's sudden action and her head was still deep on the floor with no signs of moving. She reached out and pulled her from her stance, letting her sit in front of them, and spoke. "What do you mean by misunderstanding?"

"Daniel said that you are not Lord Erkhan's lover. I did not stop badmouthing you since then because I thought you're another one of his girls and you really pissed me off since he brought you here himself. That's why I want to show my sincerest apologies for backstabbing you these several days."

Mesmerizing green eyes focused on her with clear genuineness. Sapphire voiced those words in such a forthright manner. She sounded brutally honest without filtering her thoughts and Elise was certainly bewildered. She never met anyone who was that brusque in speaking.

Much to her surprise, she did not get offended by her. Her words were rude but her tone and expression showed unpretentiousness. 'Just like a child...'

"Oh, it's alright," she pacified.

It was not the first time she was slandered so she did not mind at all. At least, Sapphire was blunt enough to admit her fault.

Sapphire went quiet for a few seconds and stared at her intently before speaking. "Why?"

"Why, what?"
