As we reached the hotel, Sam tried to follow, but I assured him that I would take care of Naomi. Leading her to my room, I gently placed her on the bed. She sat up, her eyes glaring at me with a mix of emotions.

"You still love me," she mumbled, her words cutting through the air. I responded by placing my fingers over my lips, silently avoiding the conversation.

Her intoxicated state seemed to loosen her inhibitions as she pressed on. "Admit it, you can't stop thinking about me," she whispered, her voice filled with a hint of confidence.

"You're drunk, Naomi. You should watch how much you drink," I replied, attempting to deflect her probing comments.

But she wasn't deterred. Instead, she delved deeper into her belief, revealing her observation about my behavior. "You do that thing where you don't look at me, you're doing it right now," she pointed out with a smile, standing before me, inches away.

Her closeness made it hard to ignore the effect she had on me. I glanced at the floor, then back at her, my mind racing with unspoken feelings.

"And why do you think that?" I asked, my curiosity piqued by her persistence.

"Because you're still in love with me," she stated matter-of-factly, causing a flutter of emotions within me. "You can't go a day without thinking about me."

Her proximity intensified, and I could feel her breath on my top lip, the air thick with tension. She leaned in even closer, her words a whisper that seemed to echo in my ears.

"Because you can't stand the fact that I'm not yours anymore," she uttered, her words a daring challenge. In that moment, I looked into her eyes and couldn't help but laugh lightly.

The alcohol had clearly taken its toll on her, leading her to confront the unresolved emotions between us. But I couldn't allow her to delve too deeply into the past.

"You should get some sleep. The alcohol is getting to you," I said softly, attempting to diffuse the charged atmosphere. I gently walked past her, heading towards the bathroom, needing a moment to collect my own thoughts.

In the sanctuary of the bathroom, I allowed myself a brief moment of vulnerability, reflecting on the complexity of our relationship. It was undeniable that she had once meant the world to me, but life had taken us down different paths. I couldn't deny the past, but I also couldn't let it cloud my present.
