Maya's Next Adventure

Chapter Six

Maya's POV

I return back to the station and get straight into the shower. If Amelia wants to cuddle, I don't want her to just smell smoke.

I make sure to wash my hair several times and make sure I clean myself a couple times too. I get out and throw on some leggings and a loose fitted shirt I have in my bag. I was going to leave Andy in charge once Carina looks at Amelia because we are going to have to take her to the hospital, It's protocol. I spray myself with my perfume so I smell the way Amelia likes, and thank Hughes for looking after Amelia.

"Vic, erm don't tell anyone about Amelia. I don't want to cause a fuss"

"It's okay, she missed you a lot at first but after a while agreed to stay with me. She was really shy though. But I still don't understand how or why you have her"

"Yeah, she doesn't speak much unless she is panicking. And, it's a really long story. She was abandoned by her mother, and she doesn't want her back. But thank you so much Vic."

"Oh, erm No worries. But Maya, you know the protocol. You have to call CPS"

"I know, I can't. I mean I will eventually. I can't let her go. I just... ahhh"

"Does Maya Bishop have a soft spot for kids. Maya Bishop has always said she doesn't like kids"

"I don't, I like this one. Amelia, she-she-she's different. I've called Carina, she's going to have a look at Amelia and make sure she is okay before we do anything else."

Just then a call comes through and Vic goes and answers it as I walk into my office and check my phone to see a message from Carina she sent a couple minutes ago...

Carina<3: I'm on my way to the station now.

I read the message then walk over to where Amelia is sleeping. She looks so peaceful but I have to wake her up. I need to speak to her about Carina again.

"Amelia baby" I rub her back a little as she starts to fuss. "Amelia, it's time to wake up now."

She opens her eyes. "Maya, you came back"

"Yes princess, I came back" She nestles into me.

"You smell really nice"

"Thank you Amelia" I take in a deep breath as I know she will freak out when I bring up Carina again. "Amelia, my friend is on her way to take a look at you. I need to know you are ok"

I can hear her breathing become faster and she starts to whimper, then tears start falling from her eyes. "No, no, I just want y-y-you. You and Vic"

"Hey, don't cry. I get it. It's a little scary, I understand you will be scared but Carina she..."

Carina's POV

I arrive at Station 19 and grab my bag before walking in and heading to Maya's office. I walk in and I hear Maya talking to the little girl. I shut the door quietly and listen to what she is saying before I walk in.

"Carina she-she is an amazing human and wouldn't hurt anyone. She actually helps people have little babies, that's how nice she is. I live with Carina and I love her very much, I wouldn't have asked her to help you if I thought she would do anything bad to you. Okay"

Tears begin to roll down my face as Maya is talking to her. I have a big smile across my face. A smile made bigger when I hear the little girl speak

"Okay Maya, you pwomiss" The way she says promise made me laugh a little.

"I promise" Maya responds

I poke my head around the door and introduce myself in a calm voice so I don't scare the little Bambina "Ciao Amelia, my name is Carina. Maya here said you need a look at. Can I look at you a little, Bella"

She looks at me then looks at Maya. Maya let's her know it's okay and then Amelia nods her head. "Be gentle, please" She says quietly

"Sì, Sì, I'll be really gentle. If I hurt you will tell me ok"

"Okay, can Maya stay"

"Yes bambina, Maya can stay"

I listen to her chest and lungs then I ask her to lift up her shirt. I know Maya said she has what's looked to be bruises so I had to have a look.

"No, I don't want to" She looks over to Maya with tears forming in her eyes "Tell her Maya, I don't want to"

"tesoro, listen. You don't have to if you don't want to. I just want to make sure you are okay. Maya said you had some marks on your body and I wanted to look at them to see if they are making you sick but you don't have to show me" I say to her in an attempt to calm her down.

"Amelia, let Carina look at them just for a little bit. She won't touch them, she just wants to see." Maya say to her holding her head in her hands.

"O-o-okay" Amelia says through the tears and she lifts up her shirt.

I feel tears forming but I hold them back. She's covered in bruises and cuts. I tell her she can put her top back down and I ask Maya to come speak with me.

"Amelia, I'm going to go speak with Carina for a second. You stay right here" Maya says to her. Amelia nods her head in response.

"Bella, we need to take her to the hospital. I need Arizona or Alex to look her over properly"

"I know we do but they will call CPS and I can't let her go. Plus she will freak out, you must have saw her just before you walked in right." Maya says with tears forming in her eyes

That's when an idea came to my head. "Let's take her in and make sure she is ok. I have an idea for if they call CPS"

"Okay, this better work Carina. I love this girl"

"I know bella, I know"
