Chapter Twenty Six

Maya's POV

Ever since our date night the other week I haven't been able to shift the thought of marring Carina. I want to make this woman my wife. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. Carina has changed my life for the better. Before her, I believed that 'monogamy was for the weak. Or the very, very dedicated' so I never thought that I would ever settle down with someone and want to marry them.

It was the weekend so Amelia wasn't in school but both Carina and I were expected into work today, however I decided to take today off and leave Andy in charge so that I could take Amelia with me and look at some rings to give to Carina.

"Are you dressed Amelia" I knock on her door.

"I need help Momma" She says from the other side. I open her door and walk into her room and help her with her dress.

"Lets do your hair then I need you to help momma with something, but you can't tell mamma." I say to her as I walk over to her dresser and pick up her hair brush, a hair bobble and a bow to finish it off.

"Why can't I tell mamma?" She asks innocently, moving in front of her mirror so she can watch me do her hair.

"Because momma want to surprise mamma and to do that, you need to keep the big thing that we do today a secret" I finishing tying her hair in a half up half down and use the bow to cover the hair bobble. "Go put your shoes on okay"

"Okay momma"

I take this time to check in with Andy to see how the station is doing because alot can happen when you aren't there.

Have you had any calls today?

Maya, we came on shift an hour ago. Things at the station are good. I gave out assignments and everyone was happy with them. And no, we haven't had any calls yet but B-Shift said they had a really shift so it might pick up. Hopefully...

You did not just hope that a fire starts or someone gets hurt did you.

We have nothing to do...

Erm, no. Sorry to break it to you but we hate it when you do that on a slow shift.

Just as I send that message Amelia comes running to me. "I'm ready Momma"

"Okay princess. I just need to finish talking to auntie Andy" I say to the little girl.

"It's Tia Andy." She face palms. "Vic is my Auntie. Andy is Tia. Silly momma"

I laugh at what she did. "Sorry, I need to finish talking to Tia Andy"

Amelia has just finished putting her shoes on so I have to go now. I told her I was finishing talking to Auntie Andy and they she shouted at me because you are Tia Andy and Vic is Auntie.

Good Amelia.

I put my phone away and look at Amelia who was patiently waiting on the couch. "Right little miss, lets go to the car"
