"Hey, Pete." It's stormy today, the sounds of thunder make me flinch.

Peter sits at the counter eating his bowl of. Cereal. Uncle Stephen has been visiting us more and more often. He talks to Tony the most. Yesterdays party ended late which explains Peter's eye-bags.

Uncle Stephen puts a grilled cheese on a plate in front of me as I get a seat. He knows it's my favorite. I could eat grilled cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I was allowed.

I thank him before taking a bite. "So," he starts. "Maybe we should work a little harder on getting your power out later today. What do you think?" Ugh. Why can't he talk about anything that isn't training. Doesn't he know my power caused me enough trouble?

"I'd rather not," I reply. "Teddy gets very loud when I try." In fact, he's yelling right now. But I'm good at blocking him out.

Tony comes in the room, his hair ruffled, coffee in hand. He talks to Uncle Stephen about something I'm not very interested in. I notice the way he blushes slightly and how I can feel both their heartbeats accelerate when Tony's hand accidentally brushes against Uncle Stephens while trying to get sugar for the coffee. Something is definitely going on between those two.

I can tell Peter knows as well. He gives a joking smile before drawing on a piece of paper them kissing. I giggle along with him.

"What's going on here?" Tony asks, and try's to snatch the paper out of Peter's hand. But Peter quickly puts it in his mouth before Tony can see.

I let out a sigh of relief, which turns into bursts of laughter. Uncle Stephen even joins in the laughing, followed by Tony.

I finish eating and head to the closet, pulling out bell bottoms, a blackT-shirt, and my favorite grey jacket to cover my arms. No one needs to see the fresh bandages on my arms.

I get in the car with Peter as the Avengers wave goodbye.

I breathe in, I breathe out. My anxiety is a little higher then usual, and it's been going up and down in a weird pattern. But I push it down. It shouldn't matter. I'm fine.

Maybe I would be better if Teddy wasn't yelling his daily insults in my head. Maybe I would be calmer if Flash would stop shooting fucking spitballs at my face.

I cough a little before fixing the nose cannula.

"Listen! I need your attention class!" Ms. Watson yells. "All of you have a project due today. Who would like to present the book report first?" Oh crap. The book report. I completely forgot about it.

"We have to make a list in the order all of you will present, since some of the sophomores will be joining us in a few minutes."

I feel my heart accelerate a bit more. I don't remember giving presentations as Sam. And I've never done it as Nova.

I pull my notebook out of my bag. My book report is inside. I place my hand on my chest to steady myself.

"Nova, would you like to go after Caroline?"

I'm too busy to realize she's talking to me and I nod absentmindedly.

"Alright, then. That means you'll be.... Fifth to present."

My head shoots up from my book report. I want to ask,'What?' But my voice gets stuck in my throat.

Just after the teacher finishes the list all the sophomores come in. Well, only one class. But still. It sets my heart racing.

I see the class's students enter one by one. Ned and MJ enter the room which can only mean Peter would be here soon. There are extra seats in the in the classroom. Four seats per table in contrast to regularly having only two seats.
