A chilling feeling of eternal despair overcame him. He was not ready for such a fate. It was too awful. It was something he had never felt before, even in his darkest hour.

It was drowning him, trying to trap him. While he still had the mobility of his feet, he would not allow it to encapsulate him.

"You can't have my life. It is mine," shouted Onyx to the hovering, tall, black shadows of distorted shapes and sizes.

He made haste; however, the shadows sprinted into the air after him. He zigzagged, but nevertheless they kept up with him.

They exuded feelings of despair, misery, desolation, and loneliness at him and they were getting closer by the second, confining him like a blanket of darkness.

"Someone! Help me! Help! Please! Help me, Lord Hallious, please," he shouted, his throat sore and inflamed.

Two of the eight shadows swooped down like an eagle and grasped him by the arms and all he could see was blackness blinding his sight.

"Let go of me," pleaded Onyx, ready to make any deal for his existence. "Please let me go. It is not my time. Lord Hallious, help me."

In the chamber, the thunderstorm was still brewing and illuminating the darkened room. The roof was now purely dark with no clouds and stars in sight.

The Lord of Wind, stood away from Onyx and said, "This remedy is made from a substance from the core of Axial, Earth, and the very place you are succumb to, one even Lord Hallious has not discovered."

Onyx's ailing body was shuffling around on the divan. He looked like he was having a seizure and then a sound louder than a screech broke through his mouth.

His colour was slowly returning to its original sheen. His skin was once again silver.

The Lord of Wind said loudly above his scream without raising his voice, "It will sting for a while but it will make sure the shadows stay away."

The great Hyod looked back at the storm while waiting for Onyx to stop screaming. The roof was now covered with white clouds and a silver moon was breaking through.

Onyx laid still like a corpse on a death bed. Then all of a sudden, he roared like a lion and opened his mouth and grasped for clean air, drawing in as much as he could as if it would be his last.

"How do you feel?" whispered the Lord of Wind.

"Strong enough to fight a thousand Minotaurs," replied Onyx, his eyes on the roof.

He was alive and given a second chance. This time he would not take it for granted. He would train and treasure everything he held dear to his heart. When he could train no more, he would pursue the Dark Warrior and end his reign.

"Excellent," said the Hyod and he walked over to Onyx. "Now tell me Warrior of Metal, do you know who broke into the Archives and what they were after? Did you see their face or what they were holding?"

Onyx closed his eyes and recalled the event marking his biggest failure.

"The intruder's aura is the coldest aura I have ever seen or felt. He was not holding anything in his grasp, nothing I could see anyway."

"So, it was truly a Warrior of Dark," interrupted the Hyod.

"Yes, and he and I fought a short battle."

Onyx said in shame. "He overpowered me with fire. But something was not right about it. I could swear he muttered what sounded like incantations. It was as if he was concealing what his true Rudiment was."

"That is very interesting," said the great Hyod. "I must make a scroll of it in my mind."

"He left me there to die without even looking back. I awoke long enough to see him get pass the Maurads and enter the Archives inner chamber."

"The second time I awoke, he was enshrouded in a sphere of protective energy and then he was gone."

The chamber fell into silence for a while. The only sound was from the crashing thunderbolts from the storm.

Onyx could see the Lord of Wind had more questions to ask.

"Did you see what he was holding after he left the chamber the Maurads guarded?"

"Scrolls and I am sure of Incantations and Revelations, however I could not count how many there were. I'm sorry my Lord."

The Hyod, still holding the vial of remedy, opened his palm, releasing it with the help of a small gust of wind to one of his glass cabinets.

"As I said before, you did your best and I'm sure Lord Hallious will be very proud of you as I am."

"Do you know who the Dark Warrior could be?" asked Onyx.

The Lord of Wind looked down at Onyx with his shimmering silver eyes and replied, "Do not say anything to anyone."

Onyx nodded in agreement and vowed, "I promise you my Lord, whatever is said in your chambers will stay a secret, even from Lord Hallious. I vow on your sacred eagle."

A burst of a steel made eagle appeared and dived into Onyx's head, vanishing with the promise he was now bind to for his entire life.

"Very well, I strongly believe he is one of Omegon' Ruincrucians and by his use of the Rudiment of Fire. He is most likely the fire one."

"It might be Chrome in disguise and how he was able to enter the Archives without anyone's knowledge and much less pass the Maurads is a mystery which needs to be solved and solved promptly," replied the Hyod of Wind with a worrying tone.

He gawked at his cabinets which were filled with vials of various substances, sleeping statues of past and present warriors and various scrolls and other trinkets.

"My Lord, why do you think the Messiah of Darkness would risk another of his Ruincrucians and for what type of incantations and revelations?"

"He is desperate but for what reason I do not know. Maybe he is getting weak and needs sustenance which only the scrolls can unlock or worse he has figured out a way to free them and needs help from the scrolls."

Onyx was puzzled. "Free who? Who my Lord? Who is it that he might want to free?"

The great Lord did not answer and Onyx knew not to push, but the lack of an answer worried him. If the Messiah of Darkness was freeing this, THEM, then that could only mean more trouble for the Light.

"Rest here until you are able to depart to Lord Hallious. I will inform him of your status and that you are a hero for standing up to an enemy you did not know."

"One more thing my Lord. The shadows, the smoky field, where was I? Was that the end? The entrance to the Pit of Darkness?"

The great Lord about to walk out of his chamber stopped for a second. "In due time. All will be revealed, in due time. Now rest."

Onyx watched the silver gates to the chamber open to allow the great Hyod to gyrate into a tornado and depart.

In a thankful voice, Onyx muttered, "Welcome home. Welcome back, Lord Valliantious (Val-lan-tee-us)."

Question:

1) Onyx is alive, thank the Light and Lord Valliantious. Any idea on who he is yet? You have met him already in earlier chapters.
