Han Yebin couldn't help but smile as she walked through the school corridors, where people were greeting her left and right. Everyone knew everyone at a school as small as this, but it still made her happy.

She walked past the gym, hearing some commotion from inside. Curious, she took a few steps back and poked her head through the open doors. People were split up into groups, busy painting and making decorations while others were just messing around. Then, she remembered. The school festival was at the end of the month.

"Yebin-ah!" someone suddenly called. "You have good handwriting."

Before she knew it, a hand was on her wrist and she was being pulled inside the gym. She hardly got a look at the person but his voice gave it away. He was a junior she'd grown close to in her freshman year.

     "Taehyun, I have class-"

"It'll just take a minute," He insisted, dragging her towards the far end of the gym, where a blank banner had been laid out on the ground. "Kindly write: 'Welcome to the annual Haean and Sanheoli High Schools festival,' with the subtitle: 'You and I, different but together.' Big characters, intricate drawings, and I want it in calligraphy, got it?"

"I'm sorry, what-" A paint can and some wooden brushes were shoved into her hands, and just as she got the urge to throw them back at Taehyun's smiling face, a high-pitched voice squealed from behind her.

     "Yebinnie!"

"Kai, don't- " She was too late as the boy jumped unto her back, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and forcing her to support his legs.

"Get off, you're twice my size!" Yebin protested, but he held onto her like a leech.

"Hey, isn't it your seventeenth birthday?" Huening Kai asked, ignoring her struggle.

"Yes, and it'll be my last one if I have to carry you any longer."

"No way! Well, in that case-" Kai cupped his hands around his mouth, facing the rest of the students. "Everyone! It's our Yebin's birthday today!"
