As Above Not So Below

Above you're confident,

You're strong.

You are different below.

You are still confident and strong,

But there is something else,

Something hidden below.

Only a small chink in your armour.

You cover it up with lies,

And jokes,

And smiles.

An iridescent light,

With a slight darkness.

You're like the Earth,

wide fields of green,

Oceans of blue.

But under the surface,

Is churning lava,

A dense core.

The lava is the emotions,

Swirling inside of you.

The core is the hardness of the heart You've created.

It is just pressure that keeps it up.

Sometimes,

Like a volcano releases lava and pressure,

You show your true self,

But only for a brief moment.

One day,

Hopefully,

You can transform,

And unveil who you are.

Taking from below,

And bringing it up above.
