Love Wins

13 1 1

Two hearts connected,
Blocked by a political wall,
A wall made of bricks of judgement,
Each a different jeer,
A different belief.
A belief,
The only way to break down the wall,
A belief in equality,
In love.
Each heart thrown against the wall the separated them from equality,
Some hearts were dashed away with the sands of time,
Piling like a mountain of mourning.
This mountain was not in vain,
The hearts that made it slowly chipped away at it,
Chips of maleficence,
Of hate.
Decades of perseverance,
And hope drove threw the wall with the help of five,
Five doves,
Five olive trees.
On the other side happiness sprang out,
Covering everyone in a flurry of colors,
Red,
For all the hearts that were lost,
Orange,
For the fire in our eyes,
Yellow,
For the sunshine that always comes through,
Green,
For the grass that is now green on both sides,
Blue,
For the ocean that is as continuous as our perseverance,
And finally violet,
For the violence that many have had to endure.
Now the flag is raised higher,
Waving above the wedding bells,
The cheers.
With hope as armor,
Passion as swords,
Love wins.
