"She's–she was the best person I know," he correct himself as he stares into space and tells me about her. "Claire was the life of the party. She was the superior Gemini. She was strong and never back down from a fight even though she started most of them," he says the last part with a sad chuckle. "She didn't bullshit from everyone especially those that made her feel less because she was different. We were different.

"Our parents kept us inside. They sheltered us from the outside world because they were afraid of our powers, something about being different gendered gemini. I never understood it. We used to spend all our time together. We did all sort of things. I think she was the only person that truly loved me for me. She and..." He trails off and I wonder who the second person is.

Is it Sofia? Is it someone else?

I keep an eye on the crystal but to my surprise it's remains the same. It's not glowing like Alicia said it would. Wait, am I using it wrong? She said it reacts when the person I'm talking starts talking and Caleb has been telling about his sister for like a minute now. It should have a read on him.

Why isn't it working?

"Sound like an angel," I comment, baiting him. He didn't say anything good about her, I just want him to confirm it.

He blinks out of trance and looks at me. "An angel?" He shakes his head. "Nah, Claire was as evil as they come. We were Gemini. We were basically each other. We had each halves of our heart but we were so different. So different it confused our parents who were also Gemini."

It has already been established that Claire was the bad gemini but I want to know what set Caleb off. He was supposed to be the good one but according to the research he's killed so many people that it's hard to believe he was ever good.

"How did she die?" I ask, my eyes falls on the crystal. I've asked the question now, it needs to work or this whole thing is pointless.

"Car accident," he answers and faces down, his shoulder raises, it's clear that her death is some kind of a trigger. I mean, death is kind of a trigger for anyone with human feelings. He isn't done talking, he continues on to tell about her accident. "She was driving from school and she got hit by a drunk driver. The car blew up and she died immediately."

I fake gasp and cover my hands over my mouth. "Oh, my God! I'm so sorry, Caleb."

"It's okay, I'm glad it happened," he speaks the truth. I don't have to see the crystals to know. I raise my eyebrow up in question and he sees it. "All our lives, Claire had always been the one in the spotlight because she was that twin destined for greatness while I was simply just the other kid. When she died I saw as an opportunity to make something of myself, you know?"

Oh I do not know anything.

"Have you figured out how you were able to do magic without her?" I ask the question I already know the answers to.

He frowns at the question and shakes his head. "Enough about me, Cami. All the questions is making me feel like you're interrogating me or something. What about you? How did you wind up here?"

"Hmm... My parents thought this is a actually a school for troubled teens," I sell him the first lie.

"Oh... Your parents bought the whole trouble teenage shit. Didn't you have powers? Oh, sorry I know you have power but don't they know about your magic?"

I shrug. "They didn't, in fact I didn't."

"How is that possible?"

"Anything is possible with me."

"True, so–"

"How about we eat the food before it get cold, huh?" I cut in, not in the mood to talk anymore. I found out what I need to know beside I can't ask anymore questions because the crystal isn't working and that's really pissing me off. What's the point of dressing up when the reason I'm here isn't working?
