So I've had this struggle and there's much that's goes with it and here's some tips
~
Your plot should be original
You should have come up with it and it's something new
YET
if it is something like these:
Scott's twin sister
Elena's twin sister
Fours sister
Stiles.Stilinksi
Derek Hales sister
etc.
Make a twist to it
I do get the fact that you want to write these stories and I support it, but make a twist so it isn't the same thing you see all the time

When writing a Divergent story
you don't gotta make your OC Divergent that is so boring and overused
ughhhhh
so besides that
When choosing the faction your OC originally came from
Don't worry. Amity seems to eh and hard to write.
Abnegation seems overused.
Erudite makes them bitchy.
Candor is to obvious.
Dauntless wouldn't allow them to be in the same class.
Relax. It doesn't matter. Pick any faction you want everything seems over used and it doesn't matter pick anyone you want.
Same with Percy Jackson parentage
Pick any you want as long as you have good reasoning!
Try to be original people
