Some people use stuttering way to much
People actually have stuttering issues so if that's a thing with your story keep it consistent and what changes if they can speak smoothly. How are they affected by those around them
Or just they stutter because of nerves or whatever. Write it properly or don't over use it, that's just annoying and hard to read.
Now when people stutter it isn't this:
"Uh I-I-I I'm J-John. It's n-nice t-t-to m-meet you"
It's more like this:
"I'm Uh I'm John. It's nice to um it's nice to meet you."
So it's more of repeating and back tracking then repeating a letter in front of the word.
This is more realistic and even easier to reader.
