Thea still tasted the drink on her tongue and she didn't understand how people liked the taste. But to each his own.
"Hey."
Thea looked up and frowned when she surprisingly recognised the person. "You."
He smiled, "You remember me then." He looked pleased and she almost wanted to take it back, "Great. We don't need to get reacquainted."
"I also don't need to remind you that I have a boyfriend."
"C'mon," He took a step closer and she didn't want to cower by stepping away, "He isn't here, is he?"
"You need to walk away, Theodore." Thea said adamantly,
He frowned, not looking pleased, "It's Victor."
The conversation she had with Killian as they walked away from him that night came to mind. They'd joked about not remembering his name just to rile him up for being such a douche.
"I don't think so." Thea almost laughed as she remembered the rest of the conversation with Killian,
Victor didn't seem to like that at all. He took another step closer and this time she backed away because he was too close. "When I'm done with you, I'll make sure you're certain what my name is."
"Walk away, mate." Thea said without batting an eye, but she was freaking out on the inside,
The smile on his face didn't make her feel better and before she knew it, he had his hands around her pulling her strongly into him. Her hands were trapped beside her and she tried to wiggle away from her as he leaned in and tried to kiss her.
"Get off!" She screamed, "Get off me!"
Victor was ripped away from her before anything could happen but she could still feel his grip on her arms as she stumbled backwards.
"What the fuck is wrong with you, dude?" Makenna glared daggers at him as she held back her growing anger,
Victor smiled, "This pretty lady has had it coming. Basically been asking for it."
Makenna inhaled a shaky breath, feeling the fury taking over fast. She tried not to let the anger cloud her judgment because she knew the damage she could do. She knew the damage she had done. But he didn't look sorry like the others. He didn't look sorry, just like those bastards hadn't looked sorry that night.
"It is fuckers like you..." She spat as she took a step closer to him, "That makes this world a shitty place unsafe for innocent women."
"Innocent?" He laughed in her face, "Not after I'm done with her."
Makenna let go and Victor didn't expect the right hook that sent him stumbling to the side. People had started gathering nearby watching the commotion and Makenna could only hear their muffled voices past the hot ringing anger in her.
Victor spat blood out of his mouth looking pissed as he straightened looking ready to take her on, "You're going to regret that."
"Not on my life." She said before ploughed her fist straight into his gut. He doubled over and she didn't wait a second before she kicked him from the side which sent him falling to the ground. She couldn't stop herself. She hadn't done enough damage and she wanted him to get everything for what he'd done and tried to do.
Makenna walked over to him and threw punches in his face, left and right. The fury grew and felt she just kept going until she was pulled away. Breathing hard, she struggled to get free of the confinement around her midriff.
"Let go of me." She said in a low groan as she stared at the bastard on the floor looking spent. Makenna broke free and spun to glare at the intruder ready to attack whoever the idiot was.
She stared into his eyes and suddenly felt the ringing fade as the voices around her grew audible. She hadn't even broken a sweat but the anger she hadn't gotten out made her breath come out faster.
"He's down." Atlas said with a look that she couldn't quite place,
Makenna turned around to look at the pervert on the floor, "Count your fucking blessings!" She said through clenched teeth before she walked away.
Atlas watched Makenna weave through the small crowd that had gathered. He looked back at the slag on the floor. He'd seen and heard everything that had happened when Makenna got there. He'd pushed through the small crowd to introduce the pervert to his fists but Makenna had beaten him to it. He'd been too surprised that he'd stopped in his tracks and just watched. Thea had run into his arms when she spotted him and he held her until he had to stop Makenna from doing more damage. However hard that was.
Dang, that girl was strong. Atlas thought,
"Thee," He walked towards her and gathered her in her arms,
"I'm alright," Thea looked up at him, "Mac."
"I'm not leaving you."
"I'll stay with her."
Atlas and Thea turned to look at Makenna's friend and Atlas frowned. It was the girl from the library. The one who was always with her.
"I'm Vanessa. Mac's friend." Vanessa smiled, "I know you. But I don't think I've met you."
"I'm Thea, his sister." Thea smiled a little,
"Oh," Vanessa beamed, "Mind keeping me company?"
"I'd love to." Thea said and turned to Atlas, "Go."
Atlas stepped away from her and saw Will heading towards him, "Watch my sister for a moment, will you?"
"Of course." Will headed straight for Thea without question, "Are you alright?"
Thea looked at him and nodded, "I'll be ok." She said, "This is Vanessa. Vanessa, this is Will."
Vanessa and Will smiled, "We've met." Vanessa told Thea,
"In passing." Will added,
"I need details." Thea said wanting to know how Makenna's friend knew Atlas' friend, but also needing the distraction. "Let's go inside."
They went inside, leaving Victor's friends trying to help him up and out of the party. No one spoke a word to them about what had happened because the small portion of people that had witnessed the scene were telling others who hadn't.
Gossip, they say, spreads like wildfire.
