Lily had been told by her Mr Healy that she had to start going to mandatory AA meetings to follow her recovery from drug addiction. She reluctantly took herself to the common room, she knew Alex and Nicky would be there too, she was hesitant to tell her story, especially to her girlfriend and best friend. "So we have with us today a new inmate joining the weekly meetings, as an introduction, would you like to share your story with drugs,Milan?" "Do I have to?" "Well yes.. you actually don't have a choice" Lily got up to stand in front of the group, she decided to keep it light, "So I guess you could say I was a bullshit junkie, I tried Heroin, MDMA, LSD.... they weren't my thing... Then I found coke." She hesitated at the memories but then continued. "I remember we were planning to raid one of the first houses, and there it was. Sent from fucking heaven. I did a few lines and that was it. I didn't feel tired or down for the next four years.. that is...Until I came here... I would do coke, to raid more houses, to get more money, to do more coke." She paused for a few moments noticing that the people around her seemed like they understood. She zoned out thinking about her history when the sober coach said , "Do you miss it Lily? How are you doing now?" "I miss it all the time. I mean on the outside if I felt down for just a second I would take something and it would go away, but in here it's catching up with me. There's nothing I can do besides face it." After speaking, The group wrapped up the conversation, and Nicky was catching up to Lily in the hallway. "How come you never told me any of that? I could try and make you feel better." Lily stroked her cheek and said simply " you already do"
That night, when all the other inmates were asleep, Lily crawled out of bed and slid in next to Nicky. She put her arm around her waist so that she was big spoon, she started to gently stroke her hair. Nicky was awake and could feel the warm presence of Lily, she held her hand close to her, the two stayed this way for a few minutes before Nicky rolled over to face Lily. It was dark, but there was just enough moonlight to make out her features. The beautiful silence stayed as Nicky caressed Lily's cheek, the company felt like home to the pair. Nicky took a breath and then whispered in a soft husky tone, "I'm so in love with you" she looked into her eyes, There was a brief pause, as adoration filled the air. Lily was lost for words, she managed a faint, "I feel it too, I think that maybe we are meant to be together." This wasn't a lie, the universe had seemed to align to bring Lily and Nicky together, everything worked. They were different, but were absolutely perfect for each other. Like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. "You could really hurt me, I don't want to get hurt." This was coming from the heart, Lily had been through so much, she couldn't lose Nicky, she was too important. "Don't say that, I won't hurt you love."

The pair drifted off to sleep, cocooned in each other's warmth.
