"Soooo,  how did it go" my mom asked as she walked in and took off her shoes

"It was ok, I got to meet some people and also saw Kayla. I hope you don't mind that her brother dropped me off"

"oh it's ok sweetheart, I'm glad you're meeting new people. Maybe you'll make friends as well you know, stop burying yourself in your books once in a while" she winked at me

"we always talk about this and I always tell you the same thing. I'm happy with my life"  with that I kissed her on the cheek and went to my room. I couldn't help but think of Kayla's brother. He never said a word to me and for some reason it got to me, normally I wouldn't care but something was getting to me. Not to mention his looks, I've never looked at a guy like that, not even Zayne, the one guy that's practically throwing himself at me every single chance he gets

After supper I went to my bedroom and changed  into my pajamas and that's when I received a text

' hey its Kayla, just wanted to check in on you...and apologize for my brother's behaviour, he's not normally like this'

'it's ok, maybe he was having a bad day, thanks for the ride by the way'

'no sweat, would you mind hanging out this weekend, we can go to the ice cream shop then go to my place to chill'

'I'd love to, plus I'd love to see more of this place '

We continued chatting for a while getting to know each other, at that moment I realised Kayla might just be my first real friend and I liked it, maybe it really was time to get out of my shell and explore, with that thought I went to sit on my table with my curtain and window opened, I loved the scenery, the green, the trees, the cool breeze. Just as I was still looking around I saw a shadow pass by so quickly and because it was already dark outside I couldn't tell what it was. Maybe it's my imagination playing tricks on me but before I knew it that shadow passed again and I swear it's not a human but an animal, maybe a dog.. No it was too big to be a dog. I must really be tired to an extent where I'm now starting to imagine things. I closed my window and curtain and headed off to dreamland.

Xander's POV

Earlier I woke up and did my normal duties, my dad was trying to let me do things on my own as a way of helping me to take over from him, he had just retired and seeing I am his first child and I'm male then I was bound to become his successor, the new Alpha of the Crescent moon pack. Being an alpha comes with great responsibility but luckily I found it easy to navigate throughout the day with my support system being my dad and my beta Dylan.

I've been told since I was a child that as I grow I'll need to find my mate, the one chosen for me by the moon goddess, the one who would become Luna of the Crescent moon pack. So you can imagine my shock when I found out that my mate is human and not only that but she's still in high school. Although I'm only 23 which makes me 6 years older than her, I don't really mind the age gap and I pray she doesn't too but I always thought my mate would be a werewolf  just like me, maybe a werewolf from another pack but never did I ever imagine that I'd be paired up with a human who most probably doesn't even think that werewolves do exist

When I went to fetched my little sister Kayla at school I started feeling restless as I was approaching the school gate, my wolf was feeling restless wanting to come out and that hardly happens when I'm having a normal day so I wondered what was going on, that's when Kayla came towards the car with her friend. Such a beauty, almost the same height as Kayla, a slim figure and dark cherry hair that was tied in a pony tail with light brown eyes that seemed to pierce through mine. At that moment my wolf said the word that almost every werewolf longs to hear as they grow

'MATE'

My mate.. There she was and her scent told me that she's not one of us so I couldn't just jump out of the car and grab her without looking like I'm some pyscho. Being in the car with her drove me so crazy, her scent sorrounded me and I just wanted to mark her right there, claim her as mine... but all I could do was drive.

Her voice sounded so sweet  and ofcourse Kayla was oblivious to what was happening. When she mentioned that a guy was showing her around the whole day my wolf lost it. As an Alpha my wolf tends to be a lot more jealous and possessive, we don't want any male around our mate, she's ours and ours alone, that's when I felt anger flow through me and I almost took off the steering wheel.

After dropping her off Kayla turned to glare at me "what the hell Xander! way to make my new friend uncomfortable when you know very well how I struggle to make friends, what was that about?"

"I'm sorry Kay, I just lost it when she spoke about another guy"

"and why would that bother you.. Wait... Oh my...... She's your mate! Our future Luna" Kayla's eyes looked like they were about to pop out. Ofcourse there have been cases where werewolves mate with humans but I never imagined I would fall under that statistic and in all honesty, I did not care. I had a mate, human or not. She's mine

Later I knew I had to see her, I wasn't going to get too close but my wolf wanted to see her, be near her, smell her. The mate pull had started and I wanted nothing more than to be near my mate, that's when I drove over and stopped at a nearby park then I took my clothes off and shifted into my wolf and made my way to her house. There she was, looking out her window with those beautiful eyes, I couldn't help but stare at her, at that moment I decided it wouldn't hurt to get closer but her eyes were sharp and she spotted me, I quickly hid and after a while I decided I need to leave then she spotted me again, damn I hope I didn't scare her. I need to get more information about her so I'll have to ask Kayla to help me with that, for now I need to make sure the other werewolves  at that school stay far from her, as for the humans. For their sake and mine, I hope they stay clear of her too.
