Deadly Obsession

"You're also avoiding your boyfriend?" Nabi asks. We're both seated by the big oak tree on the other side of the lacrosse field watching a group of girls doing laps on the field.

"Why though?" She asks.

"I should be asking you that but I already know." I reply.

"It's just, I'm really afraid of his reaction, I'm just not ready and obviously I won't make a big decision without letting him know."

"Well take your time but make sure it's not too late."

"And what about you?" Nabi questions with a curious look on her face.

"I just heard some stuff, basically Leo is a suspect in the death of Amaya, but please don't tell anyone even Trey."

"I won't I promise, but wasn't it declared that it was suicide, she jumped."

"Well she could've been pushed."

"Leo can't be the only suspect though, there needs to be other people, like Bailey, Madison and Cassie."

"Oh my gosh, yes! That video you told me about where they were tormenting her, they could've killed her." I try to whisper when a see two people pass us.

"Yeah, Leo is probably just a suspect since he's the boyfriend and the one closest to Amaya." Nabi reassures.

"So, are you still nauseous?" I ask.

"No, I feel better now. I just don't think I can go back to Trey. I don't know how to face him. I just wish something could come up so that I won't have a reason to face him.

It's like the universe heard Nabi's wish when her phone rings. I watch her grab her phone and her face morphs in an alarming look.

"It's my mom."

"Answer it, it's probably important."

She taps on the green button and places the phone on her ear. A few seconds pass and Nabi looks like she's gonna faint with her face looking so pale. I frown hoping she doesn't actually faint.

"My grandma had a stroke and she's at the hospital with my mom."

"Oh my gosh." I gasp feeling speechless.

"I'm gonna have to go, even though my mom said I should come over after school, I can't, that's my grandmother." I get up and so do I and we both head back inside the school passing the cafeteria going straight to her locker.

"Is there anything you want me to do?" I ask.

"Um, if you see Trey, you can tell him I'm at the hospital, just not the pregnancy part but I'll also text him."

I give her an ok and watch her leave the school premises to go to the hospital. I stand there in the middle of the hallway, I still can't face Leo right now and with the warning I got from Serena just makes things worse. I just wish Serena didn't tell me that part about his mental illnesses. 

An idea pops into my head and I run out of the school building plotting as escape plan in my head so I don't get caught bunking school.

I stand in the middle of Leo's penthouse with my suitcase already packed and ready to go. I think I have everything, I triple checked. I decided it's best I move out today and officially stay with my mom, plus I missed staying back at school with Nabi and with everything going on, I need to be there for her. It's safe for me to go anywhere or do anything because I haven't received any threats from Ty's men.

I get Leo is trying to keep me safe but it's been too long now so I think it's best now I just have my own space because things will get more uncomfortable the more I stay with him. I know he's my boyfriend but we're still fresh and I'd like to take things slow because if we argue it's going to be very hard to live under one roof.

After I'm sure I've got everything I go for the front door and head out of Leo's penthouse.

My mom's apartment is a few floors down and the elevator doors open on the floor. I walk for about a few seconds then pull out a spare keycard that my mom gave me in case I needed a second home.

I step in already smelling her cocoa butter scent reminding me when it was just the two of us in the small two bedroom apartment in Chicago.

I head for the room that I mentally picked the last time I was here since it gets the best sunsets. I drag all my belongings and set them in their rightful places, I grab my tote bag and take out my Macbook and other electronics and a Polaroid camera that Leo decided to buy for me.

Flashback

I stand in front the window overlooking the city with the 6pm sunset in my bedroom and a warm cup of lemon tea in my hands. I could actually live here forever.

I never miss the opportunity to either sit on a chair and read a book or have a warm cup of anything and stand by the window and watch the birds fly about the horizon.

I hear footsteps behind me, smelling the familiar scent of cinnamon combined with cedar wood giving an earthy vibe.

I feel long muscular arms snake around my waist as I catch a glimpse of a small black box in front of me.

"Surprise." He whispers.

"What is that?" I smile and whisper.

"Open and find out." He replies and places the black box in the palm of my hands. He watches me remove the top of lid and sees my smile ground wider.

"You like it?" He asks.

"I love it." I squeal and grab the Polaroid camera out of the box. He watches me fiddle with it and turn it on after checking that it already has film sheets in them.

I take a few snap shots of the sunset and move further back taking another shot but including quarter of my bedroom just for the aesthetics.

Leo moves backwards thinking he's in the way.

"No don't move just stay where you are and look at the sunset." He does so as I take a few shots.

I stare at the Polaroid picture situated between my fingers as I run my index finger over the edge. I take the picture and place it on the side of my bed and continue unpacking some other stuff.

My mind races off to Leo wondering what his reaction will be once he comes back to all my stuff gone.

Just thought it would be cute to add a picture of what Xara is seeing. Took me forever to find but this was the closest thing. Even though I lowkey find this picture looking  so ugly with the way the guy's hair looks like. Leo definitely does not have hair like this.
