It's a rumble, another rumble that Y/n was attending.

Sure she didn't like to be in fights, liked to stay home and read a book, maybe bake some cookies. But nonetheless, she would kick a Soc's ass any day.

Her friend Soda had invited her to come over to his so they could go together, Y/n was one of the only girls who went. Being a Shepards' cousin didn't exactly help with that.

She walked over to Sodapop's house calmly, trying to prepare for the fight, she had on a pair of jeans and a white singlet, she had been working all day so there were some stains on it. She walked up the steps and knocked, she had never been before so she wasn't aware of the whole no need to knock thing.

A young boy who looked like Soda opened the door, "Can I help you?" He asked politely.

"I'm a friend of Soda's," She said smiling at him, he nodded and opened the door to let her come in. She was soon submerged into a world where guys were shirtless getting ready for the rumble. Hot shirtless guys she may add.

She was older than Sodapop but that didn't bother them, she was in college but on her break right now. She was studying to be an English teacher. But she was back to her teen ways now that she was back home. She knew Steve and Dallas but that's about it. An older guy looked at the door, noticing a girl he'd never seen before. "Soda your friends here!" Said Pony walking over to the couch and sitting next to a boy in a mickey shirt.

Soda got up and walked away from his poker game, and saw Y/n waiting awkwardly. "Hey, Y/n! Were jus' gettin' ready. You pumped for the rumble?" He asked walking over for a hug.

She hugged him back, "Well I'd rather be sleepin', but I'm a Greaser even though I'm smarter than them Socs." She said chuckling. All eyes were on her.

Steve walked out with some cake in his hands, "Hey there Y/n, want some cake?" He asked holding out a piece. "Not before a rumble, Birdie." She said using his nickname.

"You gonna introduce us?" Asked Darry, Y/n looked at him as he grabbed a shirt to put on.

"Oh right! Everyone this is Y/n she is in college, studying to be a teacher, and works down at the Dairy Queen. This is the gang,"

He started pointing at each of the boys, he pointed to the boy who opened the door. "Ponyboy."

He pointed to a quiet boy beside him. "Johnny." Johnny looked over blushing at the female contact.

"Two-Bit." He looked up from the tv.

"Hi doll," He said moving his attention back to the TV.

"Hey mickey," She said.

"Dallas." He pointed to the leather-clad boy.

"Hey nerd," He said smirking.

"Hey, shithead," She replied. Soda chuckled, they obviously knew each other.

"Ya know Steve-o," He said.

Lastly, he pointed to the most handsome, "That's Darry, my older brother." He said.

She put her hand out, "Nice to meet you, thanks for having me over." She said politely.

He smiled kindly, "Anytime Y/n."

After the rumble, all of the gang were back at the house fixing up and talking about the fight.

Y/n sat tiredly on the floor next to a beat-up Ponyboy, after spending a night with them her mother instincts came over. She was fixing him up, and he was groaning. "Shh sweetie, you'll be fine. This might sting a bit hold on," She said dabbing his face clean.

Darry watched, he sure did miss having a woman's touch around the place. Just her presence and her fixing the boys up was so nice. Dally sat on the couch clearly beat up.

"Come here," She said watching him huff, limping over.

"Shirt off," She said picking up some bandages.

"Bossy." Mumbled Dally. She glared and he instantly took his shirt off. She wrapped them around a bruised wound.

Once she had done nearly everyone she turned to Darry, "Come over."

She said lightly. He stood there still. "I don't bite," She said smiling sweetly.

She grabbed his hand taking him to the bathroom where all the stuff was. She grabbed his knuckles cleaning them, and he winced. "Sorry." She repeated every time he winced in pain. She looked so concerned and they had only known each other that night.

"Thanks for cleaning all the boys up," He said shyly.

"Not a problem, Darrel," She said still holding his hand after cleaning his knuckles. She let it go and placed it on his thigh as he was sitting on the sink his long legs dangled over the edge.

She begin to walk out, but he grabbed her hand. "I know we just met and all but would you like to go on a date with me?" He asked.

She nodded, "I would love to." She kissed his cheek and she walked out of the bathroom, him following.

She looked over, a pen in her hand. "Tomorrow, 6:30, call me." She said writing her number on his arm.

TWO YEARS LATER

Y/n was wandering around the kitchen cooking a roast chicken and vegetables for dinner. She hummed to The Seekers playing through the radio as she cleaned up the kitchen getting the plates ready. She hadn't noticed Darry enter until soft hands were on her waist dancing her around to the room. The gang were sitting down waiting for dinner, Y/n spun on her socked feet. She kissed his lips, "Hey Love, made dinner for you lot." She said, he smiled.

"God I love you," He replied.

She put the dinner on the plates, getting drinks and finally sitting down. She was eating some food when she checked her watch. Her eyes widened, and she ran to the tv turning on the football game that had only just started. "OH COME ON!" She shouted as she entered back into the dining room.

"I'll take that as we aren't winning?" Said Darry sipping on his beer.

"No, losers." she huffed biting into a potato.

Dallas moaned as he ate some of the food. "Darry if you don't marry her I will," He said jokingly.

"If we could we all would, she likes football, cars, cooking, is smart and can swear out Dallas." Said Steve from beside Y/n.

"Sorry boys, I'm with muscles over here. I'm spoken for but there's enough of me to go around," She said nudging Darry. He smiled down at her.

If only she knew, he would pop the question tonight.
