Okay so funny story about this chapter, I was writing it and I'm kind of going through a block already (although all of the votes/comments is really helping motivate me), and I was like "it's been a while since I checked the word count....holy shit."

So this chapter is currently 4000+ words

And it was originally going to be longer, but I decided to split this chapter into two parts and so this way I will have content also for the next few days

(And this way it wouldn't be 6000+ words)

Ok story over, fair warning though, it's pretty dialogue heavy

(Also for anyone who forgets Essar is the person that helped Elide in KOA find Aelin/helped overthrow Maeve)

Nia

Nia was confused and Fenrys was genuinely smiling.

The female in front of her was more than beautiful. With gracious curves and chestnut eyes and light brown skin.

"No but seriously, What are you doing here? And who is this?" she asked, looking towards Nia, curiosity but not disdain on her face.

"Essar this is my lovely friend Nia," Fenrys told her with a warm smile. "And Nia is Lady Essar of Doranelle."

"Lady?" Nia asked, and then immediately fumbled for a horrible bow realizing that was what she was supposed to do.

Essar waved her off as if she could care less and turned towards Fenrys. "Fenrys, you never mentioned someone as beautiful as you in your few letters you have sent to me."

Nia blushed and Fenrys said, "First off it hasn't been few it's been several." Essar snorted. "And second off, it's a recent friendship."

Essar glanced between the two, not seeming to believe the word friend, as the mating bond hadn't been accepted by either of them she probably couldn't have scent it. But bowed to both of them to Nia in greetings anyway, saying, "Pleasure to meet you anyways. You must be one of his newer friends. I didn't realize, Fenrys, that you were in Doranelle or the eastern lands, slightly offended that you didn't stop by to say hi."

Fenrys sighed, "It's for a work related thing, and it didn't take me to Doranelle." He lied. "I'm not supposed to talk about it, but we are headed back to Orynth now. You will probably learn why we are here sooner or later. Sooner if you are heading to Doranelle now ...." He tried.

"I'm not. Off to Akkandia to do a bunch of boring meetings. So I won't be back in Doranelle for probably a month." Essar asked for a short cut word in a different language , most likely the Old Language, which Nia didn't know but knew she asked, "Why?"

Fenrys responded in the Old Language, but translated down the bond. "I would've given you a letter to directly hand to Sellene because I trust you enough to not let it fall into the wrong hands. But since you're not." Fenrys shrugged. "I'll find another way to get it there."

Nia forced her face to be confused and bored, so Essar would think she didn't know what they were saying. She assumed the letter he was talking about would be a full on description of everything going on with The Pit, and since it was in Sellene's territory, she would have to be the one to deploy forces on it.

Essar glanced towards Nia. She said in the Old Language, Fenrys still translated, "So who is this?"

"I told you who this is," Fenrys responded smoothly, also in the language that she wasn't allowed to learn unless she got into Doranelle, or formerly.
