"We'll look at further statistics on our financing for this project but..." His voice faded to the distance.
It's Monday morning and I'm sitting with my fellow co workers, trying to listen to one of them speak on a renovation but my mind isn't here. She hasn't called, or reached out in any form and I'm convinced that that was the end of us.
As much as it devastates me, maybe this is what she really wants. I'll leave her alone. I'll give her the space she needs. Maybe it was just a spur of the moment thing, a one night thing. She clearly doesn't like me at all.
"Ares!" Luigi called out and I looked at him. He gestures to man standing infront.
"I apologize, my mind isn't here today." I rub my temples and sigh. "Listen just email the presentation to me, I'll look through it and get back to you." I gather the files infront of me, get up and exit the room. A familiar head of braids catches my eye and I see that its Raeni.
I wonder what she's doing here?
"Raeni Powell." I greet as I walk towards her. She stands up and shakes my hand.
"Russo. I need to talk to you about Lorelai."
My head was spinning.
"In my office."
We walked to my office and I opened the door for her. My hand was trembling and my knees were about to buckle. What a sensitive topic.
"Lorelai is such a stubborn girl." Raeni sighed and sat down on the couch. I sat down next to her and just wanted to sink into the couch. I kept my composure and just nodded my head.
"Very stubborn." I agree.
"But...she has a small part of her that is compassionate. That part belongs to you." She points to me. "She told me what happened on Saturday."
"Giana apologizes and I apologize on her behalf. I just don't know why she would say that."
"Lorelai left. She's coming back in two days. She did tell you and everyone that she's going for a month but I'm telling you that if you walk into her office on Wednesday at seven p.m, she'll be sitting in her desk doing work."
"She doesn't want to see me, she made that clear. She said to leave her alone and stop seeing her. It's useless, Raeni."
I appreciate her for coming out here and doing this but Lorelai and I are done, it's what she wants. I may not want to separate but she made it clear enough. She doesn't want anything to do with me and I'm not going to be a pest.
"We are talking about the same girl who told you she didn't want to see you again but attended the art festival with you. We are talking about the same girl who hasn't hugged anyone or even touched anyone besides you. The last hug she gave me was three years ago and that was because I fainted. Lorelai isn't keen on touch, infact if a stranger bumped into her she would either swear at them or trip them over. I swear on my mother's grave and my dad's ashes that Lorelai didn't mean a single word."
