We're all standing here, waiting for Ares to say something. I can't even see his face to see how he's feeling.
Why do I care so much?
"Ares get out of the way!" Luigi shouts with concentration on me.
"Why is everyone trying to get me out of the way? Am I not fighting too?" He turns around to everyone and his eyes land on mine.
"Ares, I'm being serious and you know that comes very seldom. Get out. Please." Dom had a sense vulnerability for Ares and now I see it. It's clear. Everyone can see it.
"We're trying to protect you." Stefano tries and Ares gets even more frustrated.
"Have you all turned into my guardians? I can protect myself very well, I've been doing it before you all decided to protect me. I've been protecting myself from this man." He points to his father. "If you want me dead so bad, do it. I'm right here."
"No."
The sob escapes me and it shocks everyone. I never sob, I never cry but I feel the small tear escapes my eye. Ares doesn't turn around but I can just feel the pain of my sob on him.
"How can a father want their son dead?" His question had many answers and this is what I'm protecting him from. The answers he wants just might be the very thing that shatter him.
"I am not your father." He huffed. He then slowly smiled at him. "You thought an animal like me could be your father and you wouldn't atleast have one of my traits? My genes are stronger than you think, little boy."
"For you to deny your son, it's really pathetic."
Ares needs to stop talking before I shoot him. Some things are meant to be a secret.
"Your mother was raped and never told me. Your mother got molested and she never told me because her heart was too fucking big to let me kill the fucker. The fucker who ruined my marriage!" He snapped.
"You are a liar."
"I am many things and a liar but I tell you the honest truth because you want to be so courageous." I applaud him for his service. If Ares wants to get hurt, I'll let him get hurt.
I'm tired of feeling this dreadful feeling whenever Ares is hurt.
"How did I find out? She was trying to get an abortion. You were never going to be born if I didn't stop her. Do you know how humiliating it was to find out from one of your business partners? They thought she didn't want my child, that she hated me that much and I believed them."
"So what? You still are my father because as much as I would have it any other way, you raised me. You became a father to me so DNA doesn't change anything."
