Harper

I awake in Hunter's bed, my brows furrowing in confusion. I groan, rolling over until I hit something hard. I wince, glaring at the body that was lying next to me. I stare at Hunter, who was shirtless as always, a protective arm draped around me. I then realised that we were really close together. "Wake up," I hiss, watching as Hunter groans.

I roll my eyes, "Hunter wake up!" I say louder this time, causing him to snap his blue eyes open. He smirks once he sees me, until as if it was a switch, he suddenly frowns, resting on his elbows. He looks down at me, and I try to avoid my gaze from his toned stomach.

"Are you okay?" He asks, studying my features. Wow, this guy can act pretty good alright.

I huff, "I'm fine. What happened?" I ask, completely dazed. I watch as he nibbles at the corner of his plump lips, his blue eyes piercing through mine. By the amount of silence that went by, I was starting to freak out. I sit cross-legged on the bed, facing towards Hunter. I wasn't dazed at the fact we were staying in the same bed, I was dazed by how long he was over thinking this.

"What is it?" I whisper, watching as his eyes flick up to meet mine. His dark hair was messy, his lips pursed as he stares down at me.

"I don't know," He mumbles. His words didn't sound truthful, which made me squint my eyes. I suck in a sharp breath, rubbing my sore eyes.

"Tell me," I demand, watching as he runs his fingers through his hair.

"There was a male demon- in your room. He was holding a knife to your chest."

My jaw drops, fear spreading through my body. It couldn't be possible. It couldn't be him. I avoid Hunter's eyes, jumping off the bed as I pace around the room. My heart beat started to quicken, making me stress. "It couldn't be possible," I say under my breath, feeling Hunter watching my every move.

"His name is Damien, he does not serve me," Hunter says darkly. Damien. I shivered at his name. I snap my head in his direction, confusion spreading across my face.

"You are the King of all demons. How is he any different?" I ask, watching as he rubs his eyes.

"He isn't very fond of me," Hunter replies through gritted teeth, and I realise that those two don't get along. Everyone knew my story. And Hunter knew exactly who he was. I bite my lip, my mind clouded with many thoughts and questions. It didn't make any sense, how did he find me?

"How did he get in?" I ask, my throat becoming dry. Hunter meets my eyes, anger flashing through them.

"I don't know."
