What on earth was she doing here?

Why was she at the Haefelis Cafe, fiddling with her freshly manicured hands and looking around nervously?

Lin couldn't believe that she was waiting for Mr Greyson who had interrupted her workout two nights ago by claiming that his call was urgent.

She had coaxed him for more details but the man was impossible to get through. Lin had been annoyed to the point where she was ready to end the call, but his plea stopped her.

His miserable, emotional plea had conflicted her. Her brain and heart had been in a constant battle of whether to meet him at the Cafe. Obviously her heart won the battle.

It was a bleak, almost languid day coupled with a grey sky and angry clouds. It was no doubt about to rain and Lin was grateful she had opted to meet Mr Greyson at warm Haefelis.

Just as she bit into her first cupcake of that morning, Mr Greyson entered the Cafe. Lin chewed a little more gracefully when she felt him drawing closer to her table. She swallowed nervously when she saw his shadow towering over her.

"I'm surprised you're actually here." Julian sounded relieved.

Lin offered him a faint smile as she watched him take a seat. She admired the way his black t-shirt clung to his upper body, emphasising his chiseled build. The leather jacket he was wearing only added to the danger that his character exuded.

"You said it's about Charlie, that's the only reason I'm here." She said, before taking another bite of the cupcake.

Julian took a seat then sighed. He looked extremely tired. He had bags under his eyes and he kept yawning.

"Mr Greyson, did you get any sleep last night?" Lin asked inquisitively.

"Not in the least, I was robbed remember? I have to find those thieves soon." He said in frustration.

"Yes, I completely understand. But you should also take your health into account." Lin pointed out.

"My health is the least of my worries. You eat those disgusting pastries?" Julian asked whilst looking at the chocolate coated treats.

"Didn't your mama ever tell you it's rude to call other people's food disgusting?" Lin drawled before taking a savage bite of her cupcake.

"She did. She also told me not to lie." He said smugly.

"You want my help right?" Lin asked, her lips curving mischievously.

"More than anything." He nodded.

"Then take a bite." She offered him her bitten cupcake.

"Excuse me?" He scoffed.

"I said eat the damn pastry or I walk." She smirked.

"Miss Simo is this necessary---"

"Look, do you want my help or not? Eat the damn thing or I'll leave." She commanded him sternly.

Julian wanted to protest but he saw the fire in Lin's eyes and decided against it. He reluctantly reached for the cupcake and grumbled before taking one bite.

Lin was staring at him intently, anxious to see his reaction. She smirked when she saw his face morph into an expression of pure ecstasy. When Julian noticed her satisfied smirk, he quickly put the pastry back on the plate.
