Chapter 27

"Hey Nate! Wait up" Nini said as she saw Nate in the hallway. She needed to act quick knowing that her mom told her to come home right after school.

Plus, she knew it was something serious. She didn't want to take any risks. She needed to know that her and Ricky's relationship was secure.

"Oh hey Nini" Nate said trying to hide his disappointment. He saw her story, and couldn't help but wish it was him in those pictures.

Nate had a crush on Nini for a few years now but by the time he voiced up the courage to tell her it was too late.

The truth is that if Nate would've said something before ricky did he actually might have had a chance with nini. Now he'll never know what that would've been like.

"How have you been? We haven't really talked since the dance" Nini chuckled slightly

"Pretty good, Nothing too bad has happened to me so that's good" he laughed a little "how about you?"

"Same here, pretty good" she smiled and he returned it before it returned to an awkward silence

"Look Nini"

"Look Nate" the said at the same time and chuckled a bit.

"You go first" Nini said

"I uh- I saw your story last night. I just wanted to let you know that I'm happy for you" he smiled slightly. It was a fake smile but Nini couldn't tell

"About that" Nini trailed off "I'm not sure if you know this but my parents are really strict." Nini started and Nate simply nodded trying to figure out where she was going with this

"And I accidentally posted all that stuff on my public instead of my private. Considering how well known my reputation is I'm sure word has got around town. The thing is I'm not ready for my parents to meet him yet. I don't think they're ready for that either"

"You want me to be your fake boyfriend don't you" Nate said now getting where Nini was going with this.

"Would you?" Nini said with hopeful eyes that Nate just couldn't say no to.

"Sure" Nate said and Nini smiled excitedly and wrapped her arms around him to hug him

"Thank you so much! You don't know how much this really means to me!" Nini said before heading off to her next class knowing that she didn't have much time before the bell rang.

Nate actually saw a few good possibilities in him being her fake boyfriend. Maybe she'd be the Laura Jean to his Peter.

"Mom? Dad?" Nini said as she entered the house. She knew she had a long talk ahead of her

"In here Nina" Nini internally flinched at the sound of them calling her Nina. They only did that when they were serious about something

"Hi" Nini said shyly as she entered the room they were in. Both of them had stern looks on their faces

"Sit down please Nina" Nini's dad said and Nini slowly sat down. She prepared herself for what they were about to say to her.

"What is this?" Her dad showed her a screenshot from her Snapchat story from yesterday. "Why did I have to find out from Laura Baker that my daughter is dating someone"

"I was going to tell you guys but I was waiting for the right time."

"Is it Richard Bowen?" Her dad asked, his face now red as a tomato. She could tell his blood was boiling. She'd never seen him this upset before

"What!? No! Of course not! I told you I don't like him" Nini defended. If there was one thing that would make her dad upset it was finding out that his daughter was dating Ricky Bowen

"Who is it then Nina? WHO IS IT?" He raised his voice startling Nini, and a few tears fell from her eyes hearing her dad yell at her the way he did

"His uh his name is N-Nate. Hes who I went to the dance with a few weeks ago" Nini wiped the few tears that left

"I'm sorry." Lenord pulled Nini into his arms "everything just caught me by surprise. I thought we talked about things like this" he said

"I was going to tell you guys. I just I- was waiting for the right time. You know how protective you are over me" Nini chuckled slightly

"Yeah I know. Go ahead and get yourself changed. Dinner should be ready soon" he said and Nini nodded heading up the stairs to get changed,and after a few minutes passed Cece followed behind her

Cece has been pretty quiet when Lenord was talking to Nini because she wanted to talk to Nini by herself.

"Knock knock" Cece said as she stood at Nini's door

"Come in" Nini smiled slightly. All she wanted to do was hold Ricky in her arms and let all her emotions go. She hates the situation she was in and she wasn't even able to call him right now

"You okay" she asked and Nini nodded "do you trust me?" Cece asked. She felt as if she'd done everything she could to try to develop a trusting relationship with Nini

"Of course I do mom. Why do you ask"

"It's just that I wish you would've talked to me about this. Even when you felt yourself starting to like him."

"I'm sorry mom. I guess it's just kinda hard because you and dad are so strict, I didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure"

"Okay that's understandable" Cece chuckled a little "can you answer this question for me though? Have you had your first kiss"

"Mommm" Nini dragged out now embarrassed. This wasn't something she exactly wanted to talk about to her mom

"Well...have you?" Cece asked and Nini could see how bad she wanted to be involved in her life

"Yes"Nini said slightly smiling thinking of the first kiss she had with Ricky

"Tell me all about it" Cece said sitting cris cross apple sauce on Nini's bed.

"Well it was actually really special" Nini laughed slightly "he told me that he thought I was cute and I honestly didn't believe him because I had never heard that from anyone before, at least a boy. And he was shocked that I'd never heard that before, and I told him I thought it was because I was ugly or something. So that's when he called me beautiful. He looked me in the eyes and he told me I was beautiful then it happened. We kissed"

"Awwnn I like him already" Cece gushed

If only she knew

"Why don't you invite him over for dinner tomorrow? That way me and your father can officially meet him"

"Are you sure?" Nini asked and Cece nodded

This was gonna be one interesting dinner
